The proof comes from the Lauren Chen scandal. Recall that her Russian-backed social media content company was producing anti-Trump content aimed at conservatives. Even Chen herself suddenly turned on Trump, taking the position of a conservative who was disillusioned by his positions on abortion and other issues, and wouldn't be voting for either him or Kamala.
That was the (smart) plan by the Russians -- get to conservatives via social media, make them think Trump has betrayed them, and convince them to stay home or vote third party. Far, far, far easier to do that than convert these people to voting for Kamala, which is nearly impossible.
Anyway, Russia wouldn't have invested money & resources into this effort if they wanted Trump to win.
