Las Vegas Casino Review- PALACE STATION

This week I went to Vegas with a friend, our goal was to try atleast one Las Vegas buffet on her list. So she book us a room at Palace Station (PS) and I was like- Lame, last time I stayed there was with a girlfriend in 1991 or 92. But I went along anyways.

Some history, I remember seeing the semi-new Palace Station in 1991 and how the other sister properties took off. My usual Vegas stay hotel in the past has always been Santa Fe Station. I remember seeing Boulder Station, Texas Station (RIP) and Fiesta Station (RIP) also being built.

We were placed on the 19th floor and the room was nice and modern, but no refrigerator. I cant tell when they were re-modeled last, but its that typical post-modern kinda look, but not as extreme. We had a good view we well over the I-15 and beyond.

We did not dine at PS, bu their in-house Mexican Restaurant looked to be Tier 1 or 2.

We asked the desk person about the OJ room and she confirmed its been long torn down and changed out. (Why not just keep it?)

And the most important the only reason I am doing this review- The connected parking garage is easy to get into, park and the travel path from the garage to the front desk and room elevators is a short and direct walk. I was so impressed every time about the "old school Vegas" design, I told myself- I have to tell Druff and review this hotel. This old school direct design was so refreshing, I will make PS one of my regular go-to Vegas Hotels now, Druff might too.

    Overall Experience- A grade.

    Hope you enjoyed this review.

Not my pic, but this was what the room looked like...

When I stayed there 20 years ago, it was terrible. I’ll go to The Oyster Bar anytime though. Best in a Vegas by far.

If that picture represents the way the room actually looks, I'm impressed. I expected MUCH worse from Palace Station. Looks fine in that pic.

I will say that when I have gone into the casino in the past, it was filled with trashy people. Not sure if things have improved since then, but I didn't want to go back. I've never stayed there.

Yes, our room looked exactly like that and was pretty nice. I just wish it had a refrigerator.

Also, I forgot, I requested 2 blankets to be brought up and they came rather quickly.

Also, the parking garage and the direct travel travel path to the hotel check in and room elevator was such a major point- Grade A, Druff would approve.

What buffet did you go to and how was it?

    We went to two buffets.

    1. Re-visited the Imperial Asian Seafood Buffet in China Town on Warm Springs Road. The price is high, but youre paying for seafood and sushi. I enjoyed it and will go back, but enjoyed the lower level non-seafood alot, so paying a premium isnt always worth it.

    2. We finally tried the South Pointe Garden "Prime Rib Dinner Peel & Eat Shrimp Buffet". The price was pretty good at $34 each, I think we got a Players Club card discount as well. I would give this buffet an B+ and would go back again. Note- Pay the tip AHEAD of being seated when you buy the meals, they mark the receipt and the server sees that and supposed to "step up" the service, but not at our experience, still slow.

Note- Next trip, we'll try and take Todd and Mother Druff with us.
