The intentional walk to Lindor was reasonably sound strategy on the Dodgers' part, even if Vientos "did take it personal," but it marked the continuation of a trend pointed out by ESPN: The last three playoff grand slams after a purposeful free pass have all come at the expense of the Dave Roberts's boys. There was Miguel Montero as the eventual champion Cubs took Game 1 of the NLCS in 2016, Howie Kendrick for the eventual champion Nats in the 10th inning of an NLDS Game 5, and now Mark Vientos in 2024 for the outcome-TBD Mets. Nobody's had more practice at burning themselves in big moments than the Dodgers.

Severino was nasty during the 1st inning. Ohtani grounds out, then two brutal strikeouts of Betts and Freeman.

Buehler not looking bad so far, but Severino sharper.

Very weird inning so far in the 2nd.

Severeino gave up a run and was facing 1st and 3rd with 1 out, despite giving up no hard contact.

He walked Muncy to lead off, then a bad play was made on Teoscar's weak grounder, allowing everyone to be safe. Then, after getting Lux to ground out and move the runners to 2nd and 3rd, Will Smith hit a comebacker. Severino got distracted regarding Muncy coming home, and let the ball get by him, and this scored a run.

Then the only hard hit ball of the inning -- a powerful shot by Will Smith which should have been a off-the-wall double to center -- was caught via a tremendous diving catch by Tyrone Taylor. This allowed Hernandez to come home, and it was 2-0. He then got out of the inning striking out the next batter.

But so weird seeing all that activity with nobody hitting the ball hard at all.

Dodgers with the 2-run lead without really earning it. I'll take it

Ugh Buehler just isn't his old self.

2 walks and a single, and bases are loaded with 1 out.

Wow, two good Ks in a row, including of Lindor, and Walker gets out of it.

    Strange game so far.

If you have the MLB package you can select the Mets radio broadcast. With a little bit of fiddling you can sync audio and video. Well worth the effort.

    Great game

Big Christmas two run shot ties it 5-5 with 2 outs. Simply absurd

Merrill has been playing a great CF and continues to hit while playing every day. For never playing center he makes every play look relatively easy. Skenes 1.99 ERA is so sick , I think sub 2 ERA is going to decide it.

Big win by the Dodgers today. We have to sweep the Dodgers to win the division in LA and we have owned them this year. Too much to ask probably. I’m fine with a Wild Card series at Petco knocking AZ or Mets out early.

Detroit Tigers is an amazing story and they have as good a chance as anybody in a wide open AL. Overall an amazing regular season with Judge and Soto, Ohtani, Skenes, Mets turn around, Braves fail, Astros being the Astros.

1Thyme San Diego Padres. This team has it all and the pitching stafff is healthy and rolling.

I only watch Brewers games when I have action on them but Jackson Chourio looks like a future star. BCR how confident are you in your team? My friend thinks Naylor and Clase(former Padres) are going to the WS
Not particularly confident. but hopeful given no one is very good. We haven't hit in months consistently. As good as the bullpen is, and Clase has had an all-time year, you need to get to them. I have undervalued them from spring training and still do. They are resilient and pretty much went wire to wire with a few days of being tied.

On the optimistic side, I haven't felt outclassed when going up against Balt or NY. But, NY is better. Gerrit Cole takes our lunch money like a bully. I am not sold on Balt pitching. We always struggle with Houston.

Once it was apparent they were going to win division, I have almost hoped they stay cold at the plate in a superstitious sense. No one can feel overly confident about their team this year, so who is going to get hot? Does Cle get hot for once at the right time? Be nice. If they can score at all, I would really like our chances. I am confidentt in the bullpen.I am confident in Clase if he has to face Soto and Judge both for the game.I am confident in Smith if you have a runner at 3rd with an out and need a K. Only place where we have true edge over field.
    This hasn’t aged particularly well.

Most improbable and amazing win I can recall for Tribe.

Try to scoop Ohtani over .5 walk -125 or better overnight

Walked him 3x yesterday. One HR when they didn’t walk him.

Why are the Mets walking the Dodgers so much? Have they not learned after 4 games that Dodgers hitters don't chase much?

This series has been a beatdown, aside from Game 2.

I think the Mets are going to retire their obnoxious "OMG" sign tomorrow, and the Dodgers will go home rooting for the Injuns.

Imagine if BCR's team and my team get to finally meet in the World Series. There's a first time for everything, right?

Yes, the leadoff walk in second inning of game 3 was the beginning of the end. Then the Mets pitchers kept going "ball one, ball two"
You can't keep doing that against good hitters. It's been a fun ride for Mets fans, but now...

Yonder stands your orphan with his gun
Crying like a fire in the Sun
Look out baby, the Dodgers are comin' through
And it's all over now, baby blue (and orange)

I still can’t believe this happened. From just over with two outs, no one on, and 0-2 count on Lane Thomas to Noel homer to celebrating a walk off from Fry 20 minutes later. The defensive play in the top of inning with Andres and Naylor. I was just stunned at all of it as it was occurring. It was like I just watched a dead man get up and start running.

Wow, Lyin’ Dave Roberts now claims Jack Flaherty was sick?

You never fully appreciated the uniqueness of tournament baseball, Druff. Sad. The debate rages over leaving Flaherty in and punting the game in the interest of saving the Dodgers high leverage relievers intact for the bullpen game 6 on Sunday. The Dodgers bullpen is indeed their best “pitcher”.

If Dodgers best pitching option doesn’t work out Sunday they are left with Buehler vs Severino in Game 7. Closing this series out Sunday is critical for them.

    Stumbling around the 3rd turn

    Exquisite. I love it so.

    Guardians Yanks is equally exciting.

I need to hit the lab and cook some more walk props

If it's Yankees-Dodgers, that will be the first time since 1981. Surprising that the Yankees haven't been in the World Series since 2009. They probably should have been in 2017, had the Astros not cheated them.

In fact, in the 20-year span from 2004-2023, the Yankees won just one AL pennant -- 2009.

After losing to the Dodgers in 1981, the Yankees again didn't see the World Series for awhile -- not until 1996.

The Dodgers had a much bigger drought, not winning the NL from 1989 through 2016 -- a span of 28 tough years, where I ranged from age 17 through 44. They finally did it in 2017, and have since done so two other times, in 2018 and 2020.

The Yankees faced the Mets just once -- in 2000 -- and the Yankees emerged victorious.

MLB definitely wants Yankees/Dodgers. The Subway Series of 2000 got low ratings.

I'm ready to finally see the Dodgers win a full season World Series for the first time since 1988, and only the second time since 1965.

What about 1981? That was not a full season! Due to the long strike, the teams played fewer than 105 games, and the Dodgers didn't even win the division! They got into the playoffs through the stupid "first half / second half" postseason seeding, and parlayed that into a championship. But it never felt completely real to me, even as a 9-year-old.

So honestly... the Dodgers have just ONE full season championship in the past 58 years. Insane, huh? That was the aforementioned 1988.

Now we just need to add 2024. And it starts with hopefully beating the Mets tomorrow.

    Go Dodgers!

+850 non correlated parlay - F5 Mets and Full game ML Dodgers is an advanced play for those who still harbor the dream

Trivia question to share with those waiting with you for Popeyes chicken. How many strikeouts did Dodgers pitchers collect in the full game Friday?

Zero strikeouts for Dodgers staff. zero.zero to be precise.
