It has been reported as "radios", but that is inaccurate. They're actually walkie talkies, which are a form of radio communication, but not known as radios.

Apparently Israel to the US yesterday that something would happen (regarding the pagers), but wasn't specific. The US was just made aware that Israel was going to attack Hezbollah in some way.

The walkie talkies were intercepted at around the same time as the pagers, believed to have been in April 2024.



Hezbollah fired some rockets, but seemed to aim them at unoccupied areas. It seems they're trying to give the impression of a response, while avoiding an all-out war, which they fear they will lose. If that holds true, this will be a win for Israel.

I was just thinking. Did my children ever own an AM/FM radio. I don’t think so. What would they picture a radio looking like in their mind. They have each used a radio at work on the family farm to communicate with employees.

I have a very smart Nor Cal geek friend in the electronics business and offered this assessment-

Whoa, nice job, Israel!

1. ....force Iran/Hezbollah to abandon much cell phone use.

2. Hezbollah has to transition to pager usage.

3. Several thousand pagers are modified and slipped into the retail sales stream in the region. That's a whole separate social engineering
project....

4. My bet is plastic casing of the pager is the explosive, not AA batteries. Pagers of that vintage don't have rechargeable batteries & they get replaced frequently depending on messaging use - and these pagers were apparently in service for maybe 5+ months... so explosives in AA batteries at best supplemental, not primary.

5. Pagers have 'motors' for vibration. This has enough power to trigger detonator.

6. Pager internal firmware settings are very configurable by
vendors - no firmware changes likely necessary. The pager could run normally responding to one address but would only 'trigger' on an alternate address, perhaps within a specific narrow time window. These parameters/defaults would all be preset before entering the vendor stream and would likely not be changed by anyone for normal use incl Hezbollah. And 'normal use' allowance was important, to avoid initial detection.
7. Modifying the internal firmware would allow much more flexiblity. I will note that if it's a Flex 2-way pager, message
receipt can be guaranteed (i.e retransmit page til acknowledged).

FWIW Israel has been ready to invade for awhile; but Germany, US and others have told them not too. And Hezbollah has been acting with impunity in Lebanon for decades, so not sure how "all of Lebanon" now supporting them really changes anything (if this is even true). Although I am sure Lebanon has a bright prosperous future ahead of it like all the other Arab nations that have allowed themselves to become IRI proxies.

I will say it will be interesting if/when the IRI finally falls, how the Middle East shakes out when all the militia proxy groups suddenly lose their patron and weapons supplier. One would hope the proxies will also topple, and the current IRI axis will be replaced by more responsible actors.
