i love threads like this because theres probably a few hundred thousand dollars with of hardware in it, meanwhile some herb with a $300 mosin nagant is out there pegging 1 moa at a thousand yards.

all the formerly cheap surplus stuff is expensive now.

my dad was really into those at one time. I think at one point he had every infantry rifle of any country that participated in ww2. He had an ffl at one point, and then just had an antique and relics license, and he just got one of everything.

You can still get a government subsidized m1 Garand through the civilian marksmanship program tho

yeah i went down the mosin rabbit hole and hoo nelly did things get complicated. but even for a tourist priced one in the $1200-2000 range, compare that to a modern shooting system and youre probably still paying < 10% of the cost of admission.
