I have zero use for the current iteration of the game of basketball but I would nevertheless often watch an entire PAC12 game if he was the color guy. Walton was one of a kind behind the mic. You’d swear he was on ayahuasca or some shit - sheer poetry

Walton was not a dick and clearly had a tremendous life. RIP

The news about him having cancer I think had to be a well kept secret or how sick he was at least however there was a major hint the other night (Saturday night). At the end of the PAC-12 baseball tournament the announcer was lamenting how it was literally the last event ever for the P12 and how he loved working with Walton at times over the years. Like he knew Walton was dying or something and then the news came out he passed away like 24hrs or so later.

I saw Bill Walton at a beach volley ball tournament in the 90s. It was on the beach and he was an analyst. He was walking in heavy sand talking to the players with a microphone. This was like 30 years ago and he was really struggling to get around, he was literally almost falling down. He was struggling, literally grimacing, it was before the internet gossip and I later read a few years later he had so many back surgeries he contemplated suicide. Seemed like a really good guy, I mean Bill Walton on the beach volley ball circuit. LOL

Saw a documentary on him had bad ankles and feet. He had a really good relationship with wooden on UCLA. They where polar opposites yet got along really well. Walton was a huge dead head. Wooden would make him shave and get haircuts.

His foot mainly. I was about to say something along the lines of "If he was born 40 years later the medical tech would have better treated his injuries"......then I realized, he probably would have still missed almost as many games with the current focus on load management.

    RIP to a classic personality.

    Blockhead.
Most people, including those in the public eye do not want their last days publicized. It’s a time for family and friends.
    Nothing more needs saying.
Chances are cancer will take you and me out.
    Living long is arguably worse
    Walton, Irish. What a run?

Somehow I think your last days will be in a Days Inn, and found decomposing by the maid. You have no worries of anyone caring except immediate family feverishly trying to access your bank accounts before the next relative does.

In your case Leslie if it’s cancer it’ll be liver. More likely you die of cirrhosis though.

Only about 20% of alcoholics die of liver disease. There are literally millions of alcoholics in this country, and the cirrhosis totals are pretty low. Now, it's not so say alcohol prolongs life, the #1 fatal outcome of heavy drinking is heart disease. For instance, most smokers do not succumb to lung cancer rather COPD.
