I don't have much sympathy for January 6 rioters who got caught and prosecuted.

If you force your way into the US Capitol as part of a political riot, you deserve jail time, even if you're just milling around aimlessly. This was not just a "political protest", and the high government officials (including Pence) had a legitimate reason to be scared. That sort of thing should absolutely not happen in a civilized country.

However, this was not an "insurrection" nor a serious attempt to overthrow the government.

The punishment also has to fit the crime. Some of these people got way oversentenced.

Finaly, and most importantly, the fact that most libs don't support the aggressive tracking and prosecuting of 2020 BLM rioters -- ones who caused real death and major destruction -- is the ultimate hypocrisy. Arson, major assault, and murder are all crimes which should see substantially more jail time than milling around in the Capitol when you're not supposed to be there.

I always offer a challenge to libs: I'll publicly call for the aggressive locating and prosecuting of January 6 rioters, if they will call for the same for 2020 BLM rioters. They almsot never take me up on it.

Should police have unloaded on them like you were calling for those who rushed judges?

Not sure if they had enough police presence there to take on the crowd.

If they did, they shouldn't have just fired at these people, but they should have immediately taken control back with guns drawn, with the threat of shooting anyone who continued advancing. And then fire at anyone who does.

If police are pointing guns at you and warning you'll get shot, and you advance on them anyway, if you get riddled with bullets it's your own fault.

It's well documented that Trump offered the Capitol Police 10K National Guard troops two days before the riot. But Nancy Pelosi, in charge of capitol security, had the final say. She disallowed it.

Pelosi is responsible for what happened that day. I think she wanted the riot to happen. Her daughter just happened to be in Pelosi's office "filming a documentary" when the riot occured. What do you think the chances of that being just coincidence are? And the daughter got Pelosi on film blaming Trump. Fucking set up.

So what are you assuming no one will watch it?
It is completely opposite of what your post says.

I love how in RW propaganda Nancy Pelosi had more power than the President that day.

Jimmy, Mickey is his real name.

He is a well known veteran casino gambler.

He's an older guy. At the time he was born, Mickey was a fairly common name.

Similarly, most guys I see online named Todd tend to be middle aged. It is not a name used for kids these days.

Only fruits use a stupid ass name like JimmyG.

If Trump had ordered troops to the capitol you would now be screaming that he tried to use the national guard for an insurrection. That's the kind of bullshit you left wingnuts spread.

Testimony before Congress established that Trump authorized the Department of Defense to send at least 10K troops to the capitol if the Speaker of the House, who is in charge of Capitol security, and the Mayor of DC wanted them.

Additionally, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser testified before Congress that she requested troops a week before J6 and the Department of the Army approved it after receiving Trump's directive.

But Bowser changed her mind on troops. She and Pelosi both said it would be "bad optics."

Pelosi, in charge of Capitol Security, had the final say. This was all established at Congressional Hearings.

Have another hit of that wacky tobacky.

Pelosi did not block the National Guard from the Capitol on Jan. 6

    BY ARIJETA LAJKA
    Published 3:07 PM PST, July 23, 2021

CLAIM: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi blocked the National Guard from coming to the Capitol during the Jan. 6 insurrection.

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. As Speaker of the House, Pelosi does not direct the National Guard. Further, as the Capitol came under attack, she and the Senate Majority leader called for military assistance, including the National Guard.

THE FACTS: On Tuesday, a false claim about the deadly Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol resurfaced suggesting that Pelosi blocked the National Guard from coming to lawmakers’ defense during the insurrection at the Capitol.

“@SpeakerPelosi, why did you block the National Guard from protecting the Capitol?” Indiana Rep. Jim Banks tweeted.

Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy posed a similar question on Fox News saying, “Was there a decision by the Speaker not to have the National Guard at the Capitol that day?”

    The answer is no.

“On January 6th, the Speaker, a target of an assassination attempt that day, was no more in charge of Capitol security than Mitch McConnell was. This is a clear attempt to whitewash what happened on January 6th and divert blame,” Drew Hammill, a spokesperson for Pelosi told The Associated Press in an email.

The decision on whether to call National Guard troops to the Capitol is made by what is known as the Capitol Police Board, which is made up of the House Sergeant at Arms, the Senate Sergeant at Arms and the Architect of the Capitol. The board decided not to call the guard ahead of the insurrection but did eventually request assistance after the rioting had already begun, and the troops arrived several hours later.

The House Sergeant at Arms reports to Pelosi and the Senate Sergeant at Arms reported to McConnell, a Republican who was then Senate Majority Leader. There is no evidence that either directed the security officials not to call the guard beforehand, and Hammill said after the insurrection that Pelosi was never informed of such a request.

The officials on the board, along with the former Capitol Police chief, Steven Sund, have disputed each others’ accounts of who requested the guard when. Both Sergeants of Arms and the police chief resigned immediately after the attack.

Once Trump’s supporters were assaulting police and breaking into the building, Pelosi and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer appealed to military leaders, asking the Army to deploy the National Guard.

“The Speaker believes security officials should make security decisions. The Speaker immediately signaled her support for the deployment of the National Guard when she was presented with that recommendation on the afternoon of January 6th. Public testimony confirms the fact that the Speaker was not made aware of any request for such a deployment prior to then,” Hammill said in a statement this week.

Republicans have falsely laid the blame on Pelosi without mentioning that GOP Leader McConnell had similar authority over the security officials that day. But there is no evidence that either was involved in any effort to block the National Guard before or during the insurrection.

The Department of the Army got the go ahead from Trump so they told Bowser they would send troops. She cancelled the request. All the Army could do then was wait on Nancy Pelosi to make the request. Pelosi didn't make a request until after the riot started. All the while she was being filmed by her daughter blaming Trump. She was derelict in not bringing the Guard in before the protest.

But you left wingnuts just don't get what a pandora's box you've opened up. If a Colorado Supreme Court made up of democrats can rule someone guilty without that person being charged and convicted, and if a Maine Secretary of State who is also a democrat, and doesn't even have a law degree, can rule someone guilty without a conviction, then guess what....

Yesterday Missouri's Secretary of State said that if Colorado and Maine are not overturned he will throw Joe Biden off the Missouri ballot for allowing an insurrection on our southern border. The Maine secretary doesn't have a law degree. The Missouri secretary DOES have a law degree.

This is what you lefties have done to yourselves. In a battle between red and blue states over disqualifying candidates the republicans hold the advantage for this reason....

There are 25 each of red states and blue states. The red states generally have lower populations than the blue states. Take Wyoming for instance, a heavily republican state. They have 3 electoral votes because they have just one congressman and two senators.

Guess what....California has just two senators. New York has just two senators. This means the smaller populated red states have an outsized influence on the electoral college.

I would say, you left wingnuts go ahead and keep disqualifying Trump. The same will happen to you in much greater numbers. But you are in luck. SCOTUS is going to save you by overturning Colorado and Maine. That will stop red states from disqualifying the traitor and leader of the insurrection on the southern border, Joe Biden, from being disqualified from the ballot in half the states in this country.

Oh, and get ready for dems to be prosecuted when republicans take back the White House. You idiots started the shit. What goes around comes around. So please spare us the bitching and moaning when a lot of you wind up in jail.
