If not a catastrophic quick event, can you imagine the fun conversation going on as the hours tick away?

Wonder if one killed the others to allow oxygen conservation, or did all the panic use it quicker?

    Quite horrifying really.

Unfortunately turns out they forgot to charge Xbox controller prior to voyage. Their backup controller was a cheap Amazon knockoff with significant controller drift.

Here is a CBS news segment on the titanic sub company. Not only do they use a game controller to steer, they also use off the shelf camping lighting and use generic construction pipes. Basically an erector set. But here is the kicker. The company owner brags there is only one button inside the vessel, basically an elevator button. Hey that's pretty cool, UNLESS YOU HAVE A FUCKING ELECTRICAL FAILURE. These poor souls would at least have a chance if there was a power failure and could trouble shoot the switches, wiring, etc.. But they got nothing except a button and a game controller. I was not aware there was a 19 year old there, no doubt his Dad talked him into it, hey it will be fun.

The owner will obviously be sued and criminally charged, especially after seeing this video. Smug SOB for sure.

Normally I would agree with such a statement, but that sub was a piece of shit and unsafe to begin with. The ocean had nothing to do with it, it just stopped working.

“There are 10 submarines in the world that can go 12,000 ft and deeper,” Kohnen said. “All of them are certified except the Oceangate submersible.

Quite the conundrum, even if you dump the ballast and float to the top you can’t get out or breathe.

Well, then I guess the sub operator has his legal defense, the ocean did it all.

You've watched The Perfect Storm one too many times.

to shed some light on how absolutely batshit this whole operation was... they assessed the integrity of the hull based on the pops and cracking sounds it made during deployment.

the engineer who was fired insisted they follow basic industry practices and physically the integrity of the hub between dives, thats literally why he was fired.

it was 5 inches of carbon fiber and they literally had no way to determine if stress cracks were forming, they just assumed they would be able to spot trouble based on the fucking noise it made.

    Let’s run some numbers pal

Even if you were conservatively calculating one poop per day, PER person, that’s 20 poops since Sunday.

Now an average human poop weighs around 1/4 pound to 1 pound. Let’s average at 1/2 lb.

There’s 10 lbs of poop on a 21 ft vessel that’s sealed rn.

    aaaand debris field found.

so yeah, guess overruling and firing the guy suggesting they actually use industry standard tech to validate the integrity of the hull between dives was a
