Let me get this straight, you drove to Vegas with $700 in your account, with failing eyesight and no plan for lodging outside one night? Why did you even bother going out there after 8 years anyway? I am going to be honest, my advice is to get a rag hotel with what you got left and wait for your check. Sell your car to a car lot, given used car inventories you would likely do very well. Then hop a commuter plane back to San Diego and uber it home. In other words cut your losses.

It is positively insane to drive back with one eye blind and failing eye sight in the other. You have a decent chance of killing yourself, someone else or both. Your only focus is to get your eyes fixed at this point. I mean, come on man what you did going to Vegas in your condition driving no less is insane. Actually the more insane thing is driving back 5 hours. You hit a kid on a bike your next stop is prison for a decade.

There are plenty of cars to re-buy down the road, but really you need to be Ubering for quite a while. Eye surgery takes a long time to recover from. This story is so crazy it almost sounds like a level. Do the right thing and hop on a plane back.

You mentioned end of the last video you wanted to do the right thing by your car so if it were me I'd start by checking codes and also checking the terminals on the battery to make sure they're fully tightened. Sometimes these can be very simple fixes. If you already knew to do this stuff and did it then what are the codes? Once you know what the code(s) are its probable it'll be a simple fix that you can do yourself and most of these parts stores will even let you borrow tools.

If you take the car to a shop you don't know to resolve this without doing your best to solve it yourself you might be spending more money than you need to.

You can't get stuck in Vegs with a broken down car and $350 to your name. I'm sure once the car issue is resolved you'll be a much better investment for the entries with your newly found peace of mind.

Yes my rent was just under 3K…$2750 to be exact. It was a month to month rental that was money well spent. It was a primo location a 3 minute walk to Carlsbad State Beach and very good for peace of mind.

I think the correct move would be to stake Tyde in some daily tournaments to get warmed up.

Maybe do 5-7 $100ish tourneys. See if he still has it.....then parlay that into a bracelet event.

I think the odds of hitting something are far higher if you take a shot on a couple daily casino tournaments, as opposed to one WSOP $1k crapshoot with 5k people. Do they get 5k people? I am really not sure. What does one of these local events get? 100 people?

Brother the reality is if you don't have an ideal set up as far as accommodation and having some minor medical discomforts, its going to be tough to grind out 12 hour WSOP days. It diminishes your odds of success.

I think a daily tournament that wraps up start to finish in a couple hours might be our "bread and butter" here pal.

Let me know if you want to run some this week and what day and tournaments would work for you. I have never played in one in Vegas so I am completely unaware of the attractive options.

I won’t stoop to Bottomsets level, nor will I waste a lot of time ‘authenticating’ my previous post, but I will say this much…

Money to me is a gigantic pain in the ass, and as far as I’m concerned, a necessary evil at best

I fail to see the problem with the idea of jumping in my car with a few hundred bucks and no hotel reservation snd rolling into Las Vegas with no particular agenda. I actual prefer being more carefree and just letting things unfold.

Since I phased out alcohol from my life, I’m basically bulletproof. I mean that nothing really bothers me anymore. If there is a bump in the road, I just shake it off and calmly evaluate the next move.

Perfect example was my car breaking down in the middle of the desert. It simply didn’t phase me in the least. In fact quite the opposite. Instead of being pissed off and agitated freaking out, I got my beach chair out of my trunk, sat in the shade, and was grateful I didn’t get stuck miles from the nearest exit. Complete reversal of what could have been a source of stress was turned intoba positive, and things just worked out

I realize that Bottomset is just baiting me, casting doubt on every word I post here. I mean the guy managed to turn my unexpected cash windfall from my old union into a depressing prophecy of imminent financial ruin

I’ll never apologize to anyone about my choices to live what might be characterized as a ‘nomadic’ lifestyle. I’ve been bouncing around the world since a few days after I graduated high school and have few regrets

My life is far from perfect, but I love my independence and being mobile. I’ve had financial ups and downs and thats OK. Whats most important to me is peace of mind, and the last year of my life had been amazing

Knowingly driving effectively blind is not living a carefree lifestyle. It's being a reckless prick, not to yourself, but the rest of us on the road. There are millions of people driving with one defect or another. I defensive drive for older people than any others. I can’t tell you how many of former patients that couldn’t walk, were on a lot of meds, poor cognition, and I would see them driving in the community.

Let alone those on drugs or alcohol. I gave up bike riding due to the massive amount of alcohol containers on the side of the road.

My neighbors are near 90, he complains his wife drives with poor hearing, yet he doesn’t have any vision in one eye and poor in the other.

OK so as far as poker and the WSOP is concerned…

really not necessary to go over my poker ability or results too much because my record on PokerStars speaks for itself. I’ve had 1st place finishes in at least a dozen large field MTTs with a career ROI in the 130% range. I doubt anyone on this forum would question my tournament experience

I’m already playing in Flight C tomorrow in the 1K Mystery Million

Truth is I haven’t taken a hard look at the schedule. I know there are countless options, but haven’t given it much thought past the 1K Mystery Million

For anyone interested in staking upcoming events, I think the Senior Event is a good option, maybe one of the upcoming 6max deepstack events, or the daily $250 which I believe runs throughout the series

I really have no concrete plans past the 1K tomorrow. After that I’m open to suggestions

I’m not soliciting a stake here, but some have expressed an interest for upcoming events and I’ve got nothing but time to spend the next couple of weeks taking some shots

Overall I think the best value has got to be the daily $250 which is low risk high reward. Looks like a win is hovering in the 35k range

I already miss Carlsbad and my morning beach walk, but if I have an opportunity to spend the next month grinding at the WSOP, I’m cool with that too
