Not only didn't it present like an infection, but the doctor did not see any signs of one when looking in both ears.
My streak of no ear infections in the past 38.5 years remains intact. I was just about exactly Benjamin's age now when I had my last ear infection.
Still present to an extent despite 0.0% other lingering cold/flu symptoms.
This flu was way nastier than either round with COVID I've had but have never had ear stuff before.

What specialist ignores the most probable cause of suffering which is fluid build up in the middle ear.
This very common experience begins with a fluid to the middle ear. Infection is the result of untreated middle ear obstruction

My 78 year old mom had covid and was actually admitted to the hospital for one night due to her age/pacemaker/fever/ect, while recovering at home she had a plugged right ear and no hearing in that ear. Waited until she tested negative then went to ENT doc, given antibiotic for ear infection. Infection cleared but she never regained her hearing in that ear. Been deaf in right ear the last 4 months. Not sure if it was covid or ear infection but either way hearing is gone.
Take care of your ears.
There is literally no chance a specialist has examined and cleared the external ear of a patient without immediately performing Tympanometry.
Fluid build up in the middle ear is the most common ailment treated by an ENT and is detected within minutes by a tympanogram.
Untreated, a middle occlusion (middle ear fluid) will take your hearing and potentially your life.
YOU WILL NEVER LEAVE A SPECIALISTS OFFICE UNDER THESE CONDITIONS WITHOUT A MIDDLE EAR FUNCTION TEST
