This was probably also true about Delta and original COVID, but due to its lesser contagiousness, and due to the Cult of the Mask (tm) developed on the left, they didn't want to admit it.

Now they're truly worried that the caseload will overload hospitals, so suddenly the "science" is changing -- telling you to wear medical grade masks instead. This allows them to still defend mask wearing (only directing you to better ones), while at the same time being able to blame the change on Omicron.

Notice we didn't have any of these charts during the other COVID variants. Wonder why.

This was not true about the original and delta variants, that's why in the article they are very specific in stating "no longer be sufficient" and the reason it isn't effective for this highly transmissible variant.

Please note that masking doesn't "do nothing" against omicron -- look at the chart, if both parties are masked, it doubles the safe time of contact.

The problem is, this isn't sufficient for situations where you will be in contact with people for > 30 minutes (like a school setting).

But certainly masking still is beneficial for casual contact when out and about on mass transport, in stores, etc.
