Maybe California can do the exact same thing and send all its illegals to Florida. Maybe their murderers and rapists too.

You people are completely off the deep end.
The illegal immigrant situation is a complex one, and the solution lies neither at zero tolerance nor open or pseudo-open borders.

The country needs the labor of a certain number of illegal immigrants. At the same time, illegal immigration is causing a big burden on soceity, and also is unfair to those who spend time, money, and effort to do it legally (and are often still denied!)

There needs to be a complete overhaul -- one which is a combination of securing the southern border a lot more than we currently do (the wall actually wasn't a bad idea), as well as some kind of amnesty program plus an easier path to legal immigration. Perhaps the jobs which presently go to illegals -- such as in the fields -- could be exempt from the present minimum wage, and those here without fully legal status can be eligible to be hired for such jobs.

I'm just riffing here, but something like that. Right now we've got this weird situation where the government looks the other way while agricultural companies (and a few other industries) hire illegals, and yet there's all kinds of posturing about how we have to get tough on illegal immigration. Then we have the left turning it into a phony humintarian and race issue, which it shouldn't be. As long as our southern border is open or partially open, people will flock here, and we will have a fiasco on our hands. It's no coincidence that the border got flooded as soon as Biden became President.

Obviously shipping illegal immigrants to Delaware isn't the answer, but Desantis is basically sending a message to Biden that he's sleeping on the job regarding immigration (and most other things), and he's tired of it. It's kinda like watching a neighborhood dog shit on your lawn and then throwing the shit on the dog owner's front porch.

Biden got elected with a message that he will be easier on southern-border immigration than Trump, and then he's basically hidden from the entire situation, while it gets worse and worse.

Say what you will about Trump and his lousy final year in office, but his foreign policy -- especially during his first 3 years -- actually worked out with basically everything he did. On the flip side, everything Biden has done in foreign/border policy has resulted in absolute disaster.
That’s because Republicans have to keep two core constituencies who are often at odds happy at the same time—rural white nativists and big business. As a practical matter the only way to do that is to say one thing and do another. All Republicans until Trump said what the nativists wanted to hear and did what big business wanted. This makes perfect sense because big business gives the bribes, I mean “campaign contributions,” and are actually paying attention to what happens, whereas the nativists can always be motivated by fear, anger and race-baiting and a cynical manipulation of their religion regardless of whether the Republicans actually deliver anything for them.

This is even more true of Trump whose only legislative accomplishment was a tax cut for the well-off. He did try to give them something in the form of the wall though.
