The Boston Marathon bombing "doesn't count" because it wasn't an organized al Qaeda or ISIS attack.

It was just two crazy brothers with anti-American ideology who decided to commit an act of terrorism.

There is literally no way to prevent this if one or two people take it upon themselves to do something like this.

But incidents like 9/11 and what occurred in Paris were organized terrorist conspiracies, and 100% of those have been prevented in the US for the last 14 years. Honestly that's pretty impressive given the expansive land the US has, plus a 300+ million population. And of course, there are tons of terrorists who would LOVE to give their lives in a high-profile attack against the US, so it's not for lack of trying.

You can say all the shit you want about US Homeland Security, but they've really done their jobs over the past 14 years.

If someone told me right after 9/11 that we would be going 14+ years with no organized terror attack on US soil, I would have never believed it.
