This is a disturbing story, and a dire warning to people in the US who think "it can't happen here": https://nypost.com/2025/08/19/world-...ay-censorship/

It almost did happen here in the early 2020s.

But the story right now is in the UK, where people are arrested for tweeting comments critical of migrants, or expressing frustration about government officials within private chat groups.

In the UK, there is no guaranteed right to free speech, and there are antiquated laws on the books which allow them to arrest people for "grossly offensive" speech, or "indecent, obscene or menacing character". Both of these can be extremely broadly applied to arrest nearly anyone.

There are currently big protests in London and elsewhere, regarding the massive number of Muslim immigrants to the area, and their higher incidence of committing sexual crimes against white Englanders. Additionally, there is a growing backlash against gender ideology and trans culture, with many becoming fed up with men invading women's spaces.

One of the recent controversies was the arrest at Heathrow Airport of TV writer Graham Linehan, for comments he made critical of men in women's spaces back in April.

What do you blokes in the UK think of all this? Pretty awful, huh?

JK Rowling, a longtime liberal who has more recently been known for speaking out against gender ideology and invasion of women's spaces, has been vigorously criticizing these arrests on her X account. I don't think they will have the balls to arrest her.
