Interestingly, she got onto the TED lineup due to Liv Boeree getting her a spot. Liv has some connection to the TED Talks and can get people on, apparently.

Cate is about to turn 42. She's been married for about two years, and is the CEO of some Biotech startup which, from what I've seen, hasn't produced anything of value yet.

I do find it funny how many poker druggies look down on the non-drug-users as square and boring, but inevitably they end up saying something similar to what Cate did in her speech, basically that their life was out of control and they never want to go back to that.
