I turned off those notifications, but I also have a fake account on Facebook and I forgot to turn them off there.
My favorite is the misleading notification, "3 friends had activity today on Facebook", which can be misread to make you believe that 3 friends had activity on your own page. In reality, it's just notifying you that three friends wrote something on their own wall.
It's a tactic to try to get inactive accounts back on Facebook. It doesn't send that crap to active people.
The thing is, I love e-mail notifications. They can be very useful and convenient. I have folders in my e-mail client neatly organized and auto-sorted for things like Twitter, YouTube and messageboard accounts. When I get new followers, subscriptions, comments, PMs, or whatever, I can just see it in my folders on a single e-mail client. Facebook abuses this. Sometimes they're telling the truth about about new messages or friend requests. In these cases, the e-mail notifications are serving their purpose. But other times, they're lying and just tricking me into logging in. I'm not talking about the "friend activity" e-mails either, I just ignore those.
Facebook is the only website I've seen do this. It's not surprising, given their unscrupulous reputation. I don't even like using Facebook very much. Fuck those guys.
I get these all the time. The funny thing is I have never had a facebook account nor do I ever plan to have one.

I have a very strong appreciation for being free. Almost every time I get in my car I find it incredibly satisfying knowing that I can go pretty much anywhere at any time. I relish the fact that I have no authority figures in my life. Nobody dictates how I spend my time. Very often I think to myself "I am an adult and I make the rules now. I can do virtually anything I want. This is so fucking awesome."
This might all come crashing down if I have to get a real job or I get married, or I turn 30 and the novelty of it all wears off. But for now I'm not taking it for granted.
I stepped into a porto-o-potty and on the inside wall above the hand drawn arrow pointing down it read

The camera zoom in live NFL games fucking sucks most of the time. You hardly see any of what's going on in the secondary unless they happen to show a decent replay. On passing plays the receivers and DBs just run off the screen, so there's nothing to watch but the trenches and a QB looking around. Would it be so bad to use a Madden point of view so we can see everything?

Here's a double-standard that I think is kind of silly. When men feel that they self identify more as a woman, and vice-versa, our society is increasingly tolerant and accommodating. If that's how someone feels on the inside and chooses to live their life, most people respect that and it's becoming taboo to give them shit about it. However, that's not the case at all with white people that self identify (sort of) as black or japaense. It's totally fine to laugh at them and call them wiggers and weaboos. I know it's not exactly the same thing, but I think it's somewhat similar.
Also, I wonder how common race changes would be if they could be done as easily as sex changes.
