If you've played medium to "high" stakes poker in Oklahoma you knew Teddy Mitchell. He ran a "home game" in Nichols hills (that's as boujee as it gets in OKC). Teddy was the town Bookie. Teddy operated pretty openly for years. That was until his wife was murdered. It caused a shit storm in the underground gambling scene here. Obviously the police start questioning everyone Teddy ever did business with, lots of people I knew were afraid they were going to be in serious shit over the deal. For years it seemed like they were trying to pin the Murder on Teddy but never really had any evidence other than the husband always being the most likely suspect. When they weren't able to stick murder charges on Teddy they went after him on the gambling. The truth of the matter is Teddys probably the only person in our state that's done any sort of hard time over a gambling charge. I think he did 27 months, not a ton of time but most people would have gotten off with no jail time. It seemed like the wanted to make sure they locked him up for it because they couldn't make murder charges stick. Teddy did some interviews with news stations recently regarding the murder of his wife. The story I remember is they found her beat to death and stuffed into a closet. After the interviews the police started interviewing some of the old suspects in the case from 15+ years ago. Flash forward to last week then this happpens.
