Paramount is a ghetto Los Angeles suburb FWIW. It is right next to Compton with similar demographics (mainly poor Mexican).
I went to Pacific Palisades today.
Was a pre-planned disaster tourism drive to see the burnt out areas.
Almost didn’t go due to all this, but figured the riots wouldn’t make it that far.
About that... I was correct. However, the area was swarming with cops, preventing entering anywhere into the Palisades via checkpoints. 2-4 officers per checkpoint, too. Also, near the beach there was a big police gathering spot.
Not sure how related it is to the riots (the checkpoints, that is), or if it’s always like that, but suffice to say I couldn’t get into the Palisades. Did see the destruction in Malibu though.
A couple weeks ago we went to Oxnard and took the 101 from downtown to the coast.
