Paul Skenes is what baseball needs right now.

He's an old school type pitcher, with an old school attitude, and even an old school mustache.

The last thing the sport needs right now is another Mark Canha who is woke, always talking about his feelings, and lecturing the middle-aged-plus male fanbase about toxic masculinity. Fortunately Canha isn't very good, and won't ever have much influence.

But Skenes is very good. He has a great work ethic. He's patriotic. He's an American-as-apple-pie sports hero, and he's only 22.

Today's baseball fan can relate to him. He's a youngster from an old school mold.

....and it reminds me of being a kid watching Jack Morris get interviewed during the '91 Twins run. Morris was of course "old" then...compared to Skenes now. Skenes comes across as kind of an old soul, or maybe it is just the moustache?

Pirates owner Nutting, I would hope, realizes he has the foundation of a competitive team here, with 3 quality starters in Keller, Jones, and Skenes. If he can spend some of that nacho and hot dog money on a couple decent hitters this can be a team with a 5 year championship window.

What Fisher has done to the Athletics is a travesty, but it helps Nutting fly under the radar. Dude literally sets a payroll number based off of tickets/concessions/merch....and then pockets all the competitive balance money the Dodgers/Yankees/etc send his way.

Glasnow's 134 IP in 2024 is a career record. He's been in MLB since 2016.

Obviously he just can't pitch a lot of innings before breaking down.

Dodgers need to accept this and extreme load-manage him, so he's under 120 IP before the postseason. Otherwise this will happen every year.

If the Dodgers wash out again this year an Ohtani post season appearance would create massive positive spin …. It is nearly impossible to imagine the mania that event would create.

Took my sons to the Braves-Dodgers game tonight. They are die hard Braves fans but love Ohtani and still have love for Freeman. Braves needed this game to tonight, was a big win for them.

Braves also need the Phillies to beat the Mets and rooting for them feels weird. They shit the bed tonight.

Braves just put Lopez on the IL, they’re fighting for that last wild card spot by using duct tape, Tyde’s bath tub meth blowtorch, and super glue. Even if they somehow make it they’re so beat up I don’t think they have a prayer.

This one has fail written all over it. What are the chances Glasnow remains healthy for most of these 5 years? It's even going to be hard to praise this trade if he has a good 2024, as he can go down at any moment from injury.

Man those SGP boosts are the devil if you’re greedy. The max bets are so small I try to turn every one into +400 rather than take them to +120 because they aren’t big enough to be interested at +120. But that’s how to use them effectively. Just make them an extra bet that brings main bet down to better value. I do when I trust the main bet, but when I’m unsure of outcome and it’s coin flip game, I am too greedy. My guys didn’t show. Andres getting walked in 10th on 4 straight pitches when the last thing the pitcher wanted to do was walk him was irritating .

I told my buddy Josh Naylor needed Ozempic yesterday afternoon. He had looked like shit. I should have instabet a HR prop on him after the comment.
