If i was a business owner/white woman, I would not know what to do in that situation.
they locked down people in Camden yards after the orioles-sox game today...
good times....
Come on guys, thats just some peaceful protesting going on there. Nothing to see
the police need to start beating beating people asap
grab a large bowl of popcorn, kids....shit is completely out of hand today in Baltimore.
There is a CVS getting completely looted, lots of cops injured, riot police are ineffective.
CNN and FOX showing plenty of video.
several police cars destroyed....one is a Car-B-Q right now
Owner Peter Angelos’ son says the bigger picture makes “inconvenience at a ballgame irrelevant.”
After protests in Baltimore over the death of Freddie Gray turned violent on Saturday, Baltimore sports-radio broadcaster Brett Hollander took to Twitter to argue that demonstrations that negatively impact the daily lives of fellow citizens are counter-productive. Orioles COO John Angelos, son of owner Peter Angelos, seized the opportunity to respond with a qualified and brilliant defense of those protesting.
You can read the whole thing in Angelos’ Twitter replies, but it’s transcribed here for clarity. It’s all here because it’s all so good. Read the whole thing:
Brett, speaking only for myself, I agree with your point that the principle of peaceful, non-violent protest and the observance of the rule of law is of utmost importance in any society. MLK, Gandhi, Mandela and all great opposition leaders throughout history have always preached this precept. Further, it is critical that in any democracy, investigation must be completed and due process must be honored before any government or police members are judged responsible.
That said, my greater source of personal concern, outrage and sympathy beyond this particular case is focused neither upon one night’s property damage nor upon the acts, but is focused rather upon the past four-decade period during which an American political elite have shipped middle class and working class jobs away from Baltimore and cities and towns around the U.S. to third-world dictatorships like China and others, plunged tens of millions of good, hard-working Americans into economic devastation, and then followed that action around the nation by diminishing every American’s civil rights protections in order to control an unfairly impoverished population living under an ever-declining standard of living and suffering at the butt end of an ever-more militarized and aggressive surveillance state.
The innocent working families of all backgrounds whose lives and dreams have been cut short by excessive violence, surveillance, and other abuses of the Bill of Rights by government pay the true price, and ultimate price, and one that far exceeds the importances of any kids’ game played tonight, or ever, at Camden Yards. We need to keep in mind people are suffering and dying around the U.S., and while we are thankful no one was injured at Camden Yards, there is a far bigger picture for poor Americans in Baltimore and everywhere who don’t have jobs and are losing economic civil and legal rights, and this makes inconvenience at a ballgame irrelevant in light of the needless suffering government is inflicting upon ordinary Americans.

its been over an hour with the CVS. No police anywhere near it. Has to be 75% empty at this point.
Another cop car being destroyed. Some kids were trying to beat in the glass at a Rite Aid, but they gave up really quickly and moved on.
they are asking for parents to call their kids and bring them home.
good luck with that. this mayor is pretty screwed.
looting an office right now. Checks cashed, debit cards, pay bills, type of business.
Tonight might be the ugliest rioting night in US history, at least on the east coast. Obv this is a completely different animal in a place like Baltimore, as opposed to somewhere like Ferguson. This could very easily spiral out of control and spill into other close, small cities like DC, Wilmington, parts of Philly, etc..
Gotta think the national guard should be moving in soon, probably in the next couple days. Baltimore is so fucked up we could even see something as extreme as marshal law come into play, although that's probably a bit of a long shot.
there is now rioting near the baseball stadium, and the White Sox are supposed to be playing there this evening. They need to cancel this soon. that would be ugly.
I wish there was a way for them to post photos of the individuals that were caught on camera/video, and let the public call in to report on who they are, so they could be prosecuted.
Offer up $50 reward for any tips. Just fine the looters $500 each or more. No Jail Time...just costs the taxpayers. Make the offenders do community service and help clean up their neighborhoods.
Great quote from CNN... These looters and rioters statistically have a much greater chance of being killed by a member of the Black Guerilla's (or other gang members) as opposed to a Baltimore police officer, but no one ever protests against them.
I'm thinking you could probably get a killer deal on some schedule 2 pharmaceuticals in Baltimore this evening.
You think they'd be cool with a middle-aged white guy in the Black Guerrilla Family? I'm down with their struggle
