My organization still has a disaster relief project going on in Brooklyn. They are rebuilding houses there. You should go volunteer sometime if you have the time. Willie can also tell you it is a very rewarding experience for both you and the homeowners. I'm sure one of those people would also be more than happy to trade a free meal and drinks for any type of tech lesson
