It's pretty clearly clearly an attempt to bless Aoki and somehow redeem his image. But its a huge gamble; between Aoki roid raging on one of the sports most beloved figures and the extremely real possibility of one of Sak's ears falling off... again.... this could basically sink the org out the gate.
Here's the fight if anyone wants to see it without watching the whole show

If anyone has watched it, did it have the entrances and the yelling lady and all the expected PRIDEish things?

I haven't found an intact copy in any form yet. Screaming lady is god. Would like to hear a Schiavello commentary as well.

I've seen a two part cap on a private torrent site but no way am I downloading over 5 gigs to re-watch this rubbish, which is what most of these fights were.

I'm sure it will show up elsewhere at some point for those wanting to see all the commentary,etc...

No wonder Spike is having a delayed show to cherry pick which fights are worthy of airing because most of these fights were so lopsided it was painful.

They are basically freakshow fights without the freak and frankly not much of a show either.

^^^^ - Hopefully Day 2 is better but I'm not holding my breath.

This sure makes me miss the Dream NYE event this time of year.

Pride NYE > Dream NYE > ... > Being in a drunk tank NYE > this- whatever it is.

Btw no one in the Japan MMA scene gives a shiiiiIIiIIiIIiiIIt about this event/org. And is Sak's face like 80% scar tissue at this point? Either they coated Aoki's gloves in resin + glass shards or Sak must tear open in a strong wind.

Is this the one where ground knees are legal and ground elbows aren't?

Good question.. in the past this was the case.

Having watched the King Mo fight, ground elbows are not legal (or he somehow has poor enough fight IQ to not use them when he spent most of the fight on top using the other guy's face as an armrest)

He got north-south a few times and no knees, so probably not legal any more.

Elbows are almost always illegal in tournament fights, because of the cuts.

I think that's actually a bad translation.. if memory serves, Nakai got blinded by that nazi fucks big toe when he was getting stomped out on his back.

And he probably could have saved that eye if he had agreed to go to the hospital instead of sticking around to fight Hickson.

No elbows to head or face, ground or standing. However, knees and kicks to head of downed opponent are legal.
