    ***CLASSIC VIDEO GAME THREAD***

I didn't want the baseball thread to be clogged up.

And I really thought we needed a thread like this.

This is for all video games and systems Pre-Playstation 1

Remember this system? I never played on it, and really have never known anyone with one. I remember looking at the price when I was 14 and it was something like $600.

growing up, my brothers best friends father was a designer for ATARI. He used to give his son demo cartridges for us to try out and show our friends, to see what they thought of the games.

Somewhere, hopefully, my parents still have them saved in a box ($$$$$). We would get some amazing games from him, and then we would get some real abortions (remember the Atari version of Pac-Man?).

We would invite all our friends to come over and check out these demo games and our house would be crazy full of kids fighting for their turn.

Thats sick. god I remember some of those Atari games were just awful. Demo games though? Shit if you still have some of those, your good money.

yeah, they were just those black plastic cartridges, and he would write the game on them with pencil (no stickers anywhere).

I would say that about 75% of the games were pretty mediocre to bad (thats why he was giving them to us as demos for feedback).

They were mostly sports games. Hockey was my favorite, but it was like a 1v1 2v2 thing. Volleyball was decent. The rest of them were forgettable. Pac-Man...I still have the horrible music in my head. It was so shitty. The graphics were terrible (but then, keep in mind what they had to work with). We are talking about the late 70's here.

    Need help with something guys.

I was probably 13 when I bought this.

It was a game console that consisted of Sega CD, Sega Genesis, and Super Nintendo I think. It had all these consoles built into 1. I can't find the name of it. I would love to find this again. Ultimate Gaming console? No idea.

I don't know about the ultimate game console but you can find emulators and roms all over the Internet now. I play contra III like a motherfucker now with an xbox controller hooked up to my laptop.

I remember console games. I have the sega, atari 2600 and colecovision emulators with pretty much all the games for each for the pc.

The ones I had as a kid:

    • Original console Tank Battle
    • Pong
    • Atari 2600
    • Intellivision w/ voice addon
    • Colecovision

and then my first computer was a c64 and I really haven't bought another console since. I go to friends houses and they crush me at games cause I am clueless on how to use an xbox controller.

When the Atari 2600 came out, I so wanted one. My mate down the road had one and I would go round to his house, and he wasn't in I'd ask his mum if I could play on it.

I pleaded to get one but without luck. In the end I got a piece of shit that looked something like this that played a sort of pong game and a drag racing game.

After that I got a Sinclair ZX81 and then a Sinclair ZX Spectrum. These were not really games consoles, more a home computer, but really everyone just played games on them. In the UK these were equivalent to (and more popular than) the Amiga and Vic20.

Interestingly the guy who invented the ZX81 and Spectrum is Sir Clive Sinclair - a poker player who was I saw in a tourney in London a couple of weeks ago.

wow Ive never heard of those.

By far my favorite is the Sega Genesis. Probably because of the time I spent playing the original Mortal Kombat.

    Close 2nd is the NES.

N64 was my favorite system growing up, but I guess that was just more my age than anything else...

I also had a Sega Saturn at one point and I had this bad boy with me wherever I went:

Since my R.O.B. was probably the only one in the world that was working I actually logged quite a bit with Gyromite. Kind of a pointless game though.
