    Amsterdam Vacation

I'm headed to Amsterdam Mid-March. Is there any must do things while I'm there. I will be going to several Coffee shops as I do like to partake in Cannabis smoking. I will do a canal tour and want to visit a few art museums. I am taking 3 days out to visit Paris and am going on a all day Wine tour(Paris Wine Day Tours). I see there is a casino that is a 11 minute walk from my hotel it's called Holland Casino Amsterdam. I can't find very much info. Has anybody been to this casino I would like to degen a bit and am wondering what the poker is like and if they have any slots that are worth playing.

Be careful and stay aware of what's going on around you. The Muslim's seem to be ramping up their shit in Europe. Especially places with lots of American tourism.

It's my understanding that you have to be a member to enter European casinos. At least it was like that in Scotland when I was there. It's free & easy but you'll need your ID

Good luck & have fun & a trip report when you get back seems to be in order.

    An exaggeration of biblical proportions..

What shit are your news stations feeding you over there?...

Don't think I can recall an American tourist being killed by terrorism in Europe, like ever (stand to be shot down by that statement though)

And ironically his chances of dying will decrease on his trip to Europe than if he stayed at home.

All of these are a must in Amsterdam: Anne Frank House, Dutch National Museum, Van Gough Museum, Heineken Brewery, bar hopping in the Jordaan, the Melkweg nightclub, and of course all the weed and hookers you can handle in the Red Light District. For a real treat, go to an Indonesian restaurant and order the "rice table", you will get a copious variety of yummy dishes.

Has anybody been to this casino I would like to degen a bit and am wondering what the poker is like and if they have any slots that are worth playing.

I have been to Amsterdam over 10 times. Some tips.

    1. The Holland Casino (that is what it is called) is worth going to once. I don't even think they have a poker room though. Anyone can go as long as you have a passport. I believe they charge 5 euros to enter. They have slots and table games.

    2. Someone else mentioned it but definitely a lot of great Indonesian food in Amsterdam. The Rijsttafel or "rice table" is awesome if you find the right place. Keep in mind though that overall food in Amsterdam is pretty shitty. When I am there I usually stick with Indonesian food, dining in the nicer hotels or hitting up the many turk shops with meat on a stick.

    3. I personally find the coffee shops loud and not peaceful. Smoking and going to the Van Gogh Museum was great. Also simply smoking and grabbing a seat outside one of the hundreds of bars on the canals on a nice day.

    4. Get high and have a threesome. It will cost you around 100 euros. Or just take one and it will be 50 euros.

    5. Get stoned/drunk and hit up the crazy vending machines: http://cdn1.vtourist.com/19/6411906-....jpg?version=2 . You wont know what half the shit is but it doesnt matter as it tastes awesome at 2 am.

6.Just walk around. Amsterdam is beautiful and just walking around for a few hours straight stopping at random bars for a pint is fun.

    7. Instead of a canal tour, I would grab friends and rent a boat that has a grill. You then can get a guide who will get you all the stuff to take you around the canals while you drink and grill on the canal. Awesome on summer day.

    8. Remember that when you buy pre made joints they add tobacco alot of time by default. If you dont want tobacco in them, make sure you tell them before hand.

    9. Also make sure you ask how much a taxi ride is going to cost before just telling him to take you to a place. A lot of taxi drivers will try to rape tourists.

    10. Also taxi drivers at the airport will try to give you a ride into the city. This taxi ride will cost you 60 euros whereas the train (which is faster and takes you to almost the same spot) will be around 5 euros. Even if your hotel is not right by Central Station it is easy enough to get anywhere from there.

I have been to all the museums, Heineken experience etc etc. The only one I thought was worth it was the Van Gogh. Try not to get bogged down with some kind of site seeing agenda. My best times in Amsterdam have been simply sitting outside on a nice day drinking pints and talking to friends and random strangers.

Did I say Americans were killed? No. I said places with American tourism. I am not arrogant enough to think that every thing that the goat fuckers do is centered around the United States.

Attack in Paris in 2015? Yes. Attack in Copenhagen in 2015? Yes. These are places that Americans frequent and could be caught in the crossfire even if they are not the primary targets.

Immediately change plans and come to Detroit. Our murder rate is only about 15 times Amsterdam, but our Muslims will only try to feed you (not kill you).

But those were targeted attacks specifically against people who deeply offended (as they see it) their religion...

So the chances of finding himself in some sort of crossfire event and taking a bullet are insanely small.... Like Powerball odds

But the chances of him taking a bullet during a random crossfire event in the States, are significantly higher..

I know your comments were just off the cuff and meant no harm... but I'd hate for Americans to use that as a factor before deciding their next holiday destination.

Europe is as safe now for American tourists than it was 10 years ago.

Being from Holland and having lived in this beautiful city for 3+ years I can guarantee You'll have the time of your life! A lot of good stuff has been said above, so Im not going to repeat all that. If you happen to be there while the weather is nice, definitely take the train and spend a day in Zandvoort! Depending the days you'll be there and your interest in sports, going to an Ajax football game and experience some european "soccer" craze with 50,000 others should be a consideration. And for some Dutch folklore, hit up Volendam, to get your wooden shoes fix in. Regarding the pokerssss, not sure what Casino Cmoney went to but there is definitely poker in the Holland Casino. There is a whole section upstairs with a lot of poker action. Back in the day it was all PLO, but I think its mainly nlh these days. Its not unlikely you'll run into Noah Boeken or Marcel Luske. They should also have daily poker tournaments, probably around 100 euro buy in. It has already been pointed out that you need a passport and they charge an entry fee, that's right folks, in Holland you need to pay to lose your money. .LOL.

pm me if you have any questions.

Veilige reis en heel veel plezier! Proost.

Do you play much in Council Bluffs? I'm usually up at the horseshoe once a month or so
It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?

Truth is, single and in ur twenties you definitely wanna be in Amsterdam, but no way I would raise a family there.
Both countries are great, but the house we have here would cost millions over there. Also, us Dutch like to be very social, everything to support the poor/unemplyed/disabled, meaning paying 50% income tax, 10$ a gallon for gas and twice the price for a new car....

I used to play there a lot, now once in awhile when I can find the time. 3 of our kids are under 4, so you can understand it's kinda hectic right now.
