    Where do you assholes stay

During the wsop? Besides renting Micons place or blowing the dust off my wallet for a strip hotel are there any other decent (RE: Cheap) options near the Rio?

For price, Treasure Island is about the cheapest decent strip hotel IMO. I stayed at Caesars and Mirage last week and the rooms weren't much better, if any, than TI

It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?

Palace Station is pretty close and cheap but it is an absolute shit hole.

I would just find a holiday inn extended stay place and take a taxi if you are on a budget, If you try to go cheap with casino hotels you will want to noose after a few days, Even staying at nice hotels with casinos I cant stand for any length of time. The smoke, the fucking drunk frat guys with their drinks tied around their necks. Fucking awful.

I am going to WSOP this year and be at the Vdara the whole time. I am completely over the casino shit now.

It depends...How long are you planning on staying? I usually stay at Aria if I'm in town for 2-3 nights. If I am there on a longer trip I stay at Vdara.

I also have to recommend the "Stay Well" rooms at the MGM Grand. I was at a convention there for a week last year. I usually start feeling like shit the 2nd to 3rd day in Vegas. I also find it harder to sleep while I'm there. When I stayed there I've never felt better and energized. It probably was due to the fact that I was able to sleep normally when I slept there.

Rio isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

It is the best place to stay if you're playing a lot of WSOP events and you can get it fairly cheaply.

You just have to understand its idiosyncrasies, and prepare yourself for it.

    - You really want a car staying there, as walking over the freeway to get to the strip is very unpleasant in the summer

    - You should get the Ipanema Tower and a low floor. This is for two reasons. First, the Ipanema Tower is quiet, and the other tower isn't. Second, the low floor will allow you to not have to wait through long elevator rides up and down, especially on WSOP breaks. (It will stop at a ton of floors.)

    - If the room you get has a maintenance issue, either call immediately to get it fixed or switch rooms. Most rooms there are still in OK shape.

The biggest advantage of the Rio is the dinner break, as you aren't forced to wait around like an asshole for 90 minutes in the hallway or some other crappy place.

The Rio rooms are pretty large and have a refrigerator, so you can be plenty comfortable there if you aren't expecting a luxury hotel.

I plan to go for 4-5 nights. Didn't want to drop $1400 for a room at the rio so I'm being a cheap asshole and asking for other alternatives. I'll probably just stay at flamingo or the like and go for to the hip for $500.

I'm amazed that your foul reputation hasn't been circulated to every hotel manager in Vegas to deny you service under any circumstances

it's hugely convenient to be able to hide in your room during dinner break, decompress, charge your phone, etc.

and at the end of the night you don't want to have to wait in line for a taxi with the other 2000 players

What dates are you going and do you have an MLife card?

I'm tentatively going 6/28-7/3 and can get a Stay Well Room for $80 a night plus the lame resort fee through MLife.

not to mention, the thought of trying to fade the heat + taxi just to get to the fucking poker room is horror itself.

no thank you. ill pay the extra, wake up to breakfast being delivered at like 11, and drink my third cup of coffee in the elevator on the way to the poker room.

Now another alternative that is very close to the Rio is Palms Place. I will be staying there at a Studio Suite for a couple of nights for a few meetings next month. I will certainly let you know my opinion after my stay.

I'm very picky on hotel rooms.

If anyone is looking to stay at any of Harrah's properties.....one of my customers can get you the best rates. He is a retired USAF Officer, been a rep for them for years. Tell me the dates and I'll find out the rates for you by property.

I have stayed at the Gold Coast across the street. It is about a 10 minute walk to the Amazon Room. The rooms are actually OK. The casino is dumpy however. It is a cheaper alternative to the Rio, especially on the weekends. It still doesn't beat the convenience of the Rio. Going to your room during the dinner break to recharge is a huge plus.

City Center is actually pretty convenient as well, because you can go out the backside on Harmon, avoiding I-15 and the Strip. It takes less than 5 minutes to get to the WSOP parking lot. I have a family member who gets rooms through a timeshare at Vdara, so that is my preferred option on the pricey weekends. Never stayed at Aria, but the poker room is decent. Vdara is nice, I like that you can walk to the Bellagio poker room in 10 minutes.

Obviously rio. I stayed at Harrahs because total rewards gave us free rooms and it was too annoying dealing with cab lines after some gook just gooked your face off.

if you stay at the palms, be prepared for cab drivers to be outright ignorant to you when you tell them you're going to the rio

they are straight assholes about it, like "DUDE IT'S RIGHT THERE!"

yeah, i know asshole but it's also 110 degrees so i'd rather not look like i just jumped in a swimming pool by the time i walk that half mile
