Antigua & Barbuda has been locked in a gaming dispute with the US since 2003, in which the World Trade Organisation ruled that the US was wrong to block its citizens from accessing online gaming services based here and should stop immediately. However, the US has failed to comply with the WTO ruling and a settlement is yet to be reached in the matter. As the US has not complied with the ruling, the WTO authorised Antigua & Barbuda to take retaliatory measures to the tune of US$21 million annually but the country has yet to take that option.

He also had already chosen to move there before the busts occurred. I actually had heard about this before Seals went down. The Seals thing just hastened the process.
I had heard he was planning to move to Antigua because he wanted to run more than just a bitcoin poker room. I did not know about the attempted Lock purchase (which reportedly was tried in February 2014), but that fits in with everything else I was told.
Presumably, the goal was to move to Antigua and either expand Seals or buy/start non-bitcoin poker rooms and/or casinos, such as Lock Poker. For some reason he felt comfortable running Seals while living in Vegas, but not something like Lock. I never understood that.

What are the odds that Micon uses his legal funds to pay off the Antiguan government and get regulated there? He does however claim the servers are located somewhere else in the world.... I still find it hard to believe that the government chooses to back him unless he pays them their "citizen" fee.

Garrett - Micon doesn't deserve any sympathy. From your join date I suspect you are missing the history which others have lived through.
While never scamming anyone a la Jasep, he fucked Druff and he fucked Brandon, and proceeded to run his lazy-ass hair-brained get-rich-quick schemes sticking the mid-digit up at authority and the law.

Also and I have one very serious concern about all this and thats Micon getting shanked/burnt/stomped over gambling debts incurred in prison. No other scenario really strikes me as anything worse than the cost of doing business in his field. You simply dont run an unregulated poker site in the year of our lord 2015 without knowing full well you might catch a 34 month breather (22 with good behavior). I dont believe for a second Micon never considered this and was at peace with the equity numbers, because really if he did manage to skate charges he could have been the next fucking Calvin A. I'm having a tough time judging him for rolling those dice at the moment.
Anyway, point being, the #1 reason people catch bad in prison is drug debts. #2, gambling. So when Beaker starts smoking other peoples dope and losing his ass playing hearts, expect real horrors.
