It was probably some noob who sucked at poker, lost a bunch of bitcoin on Seals, and then thought to himself "zomg rigged", and reported the site for breaking US gambling laws or whatever.

It is possible that the Belgian guy is a partially true excuse for why they investigated Seals, to where he was the first to complain, but in reality they finally took action because Caesars bitched or something. I'm just guessing here, but it didn't take 18 months for them to determine that Micon was "chairman" and that he was living in Las Vegas. Obviously something kicked the NGC's asses into high gear in late 2014 or early 2015.

And I'm guessing it was someone/something with influence in the state of Nevada.

his 'legal team' certainly isn't working pro bono, and won't be offering their services on a contingency basis since there is 0% chance of the government offering a cash settlement

Las Vegas man linked to bitcoin poker site facing prosecution

Gaming officials said when the Las Vegas Sun reported the story in early March that they couldn’t recall any other instance where they had gone after an allegedly illegal website.

Similarly, Laxalt said at a press conference today that he believes the charges against Micon are the first of their kind in Nevada.

“Operating or otherwise conducting gaming in this state without a license is illegal, and the Attorney General’s Office will aggressively pursue individuals and companies who aim to evade our laws for illicit profit,” Laxalt said. “During my time as A.G., illegal gaming operations will be pursued with every available and appropriate legal remedy.”

But Micon told the Sun in March that he didn’t believe he did anything wrong.

Micon was public about his affiliation with Seals with Clubs, and even though he was referred to as the site’s chairman, he described his role as more of a “marketing guy.” He said he didn’t control the site’s operations.

“I’m a victim of the unfortunate systemic police state that has taken over the United States,” Micon said

At today’s press conference, Chief Deputy Attorney General Jeff Segal said a warrant for Micon’s arrest is active across the country. But he said that Micon’s last known whereabouts was Antigua, a Caribbean island with a reputation for friendliness toward online gaming.

Segal said the state Attorney General’s Office will work with law enforcement to apprehend Micon and “bring him to justice.”

We should try to get a copy of the criminal compliant that was filed by the state of Nevada against Micon.

There wasnt a lot of traffic on Seals, and they had at least 3 people on salary (micon, other owner, hdev(?) the sysad) plus at various times they had to spend considerable sums on advertising, consultants, developers, etc. Honestly Id be stunned if Seals took down more than $200 a day in rake..

My understanding is he had significantly less than equal equity with the other employees, which is to say it wasnt a 3 way split. Micon may have been working towards equal shares based on performance/growth but that growth did not happen.

the big difference here is that I beat my case and had all charges dismissed.

They are clearly going to try to make an example out of Micon since he had the audacity (and stupidity) to not only operate SWC in Nevada (lol), but to thumb his nose at the government and Nevada Gaming Commission

also, I was only out 2K in legal fees to beat my case

Micon is charged with a FELONY, his lawyers only benefit from billing him as many hours as possible

if he is really serious about going to court to fight this, he is going to be out a minimum 6 figures in legal fees.

an earlier poster said that he should just fly back and take a plea.....chances are he'd do 18 months in some country club minimum security facility. To me that sounds like his best option at this point.

Note that the law firm I've retained, Chessnoff & Schonfeld, only take fiat currency. It is worth noting that I started a GoFundMe so that I could collect fiat currency, in that my personal safety and the safety of my family is at stake, fiat is more useful to me for this particular matter.

While I'll be bangin' Bitcoin until I die, and we've come a very, very long way, it's always important to take a realistic look at the world economy and not let our love of the blockchain make us exaggerate.
