Canelo Alvarez is cut over the left eye.
Finish him...this fight MUST end by KNOCKOUT!
LOL boxing
I had GGG winning the fight.
However, because he didn't knock Canelo out, GGG deserved to lose.
Will Canelo test positive for steroids again?
Guess we’re gonna call this one a robbery too?
I scored it a draw. 7-5 either way is fair imo.
Canelo got tired over the last portion of the fight and GGG fought his way back into it.
Really good fight. There were a lot of close rounds. Good body work by Canelo which I thought really made the difference. GGG landed a lot more jabs. Seems like people tend to ignore body punching when scoring fights. Oh well.
I backed Canelo. Simply because he looked good at the weigh-in and nearly 2-1 seemed to be overs... happy I won of course.
Wasn't confident he'd get the decision, I reckon he only won 4 rounds. Very surprised to get the win.
Really enjoyed that. Felt GGG did enough to win but I loved Canelo walking him down, especially in the earlier rounds.
Bookies here had Canelo at 6/1 at the final bell but instead, I took the draw at 10/1 at the bell, also had 20/1 the draw pre-fight.
In hindsight, not taking 6/1 on Canelo was criminal.
Oh fucking well.
Checked my twitter feed for some reaction.
This is one of the milder responses to the result. The fume is very real.

GGG landed more punches .
Won more rounds.
And almost knocked him out several times.
GGG wasn’t hurt once.

Well, at least once.
But according to CompuBox...

Can't remember the round, but there was only one time GGG smelt blood before quickly realizing that it was a false alarm and backed off.
GGG almost knocked Canelo down a couple of times.
But almost doesn't count.
GGG should have known that he would have to knock Canelo out to win. No way GGG could win by a decision.
I would not be surprised if Oscar De La Hoya paid off the judges personally.
CompuBox numbers look good on paper but don't tell the whole story.
GGG thinks that both Canelo and his promoter Oscar De La Hoya are a bunch of drug cheats.
Golovkin: Canelo is Cheating, Using Drugs - De La Hoya is Dirty
https://www.boxingscene.com/golovkin...-dirty--126405
IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) has erupted and made things very personal in the lead-up to his rematch with Canelo Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs).
Their second fight is scheduled for May 5th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The first encounter ended in a controversial twelve round split draw last September, at the same Las Vegas venue.
The rematch has come under fire after it was revealed two weeks ago that Canelo tested positive for clenbuterol, which the Mexican superstar attributes to eating contaminated meat.
Golovkin is not buying Canelo's excuse, which several other athletes have used in the country - including other boxers like Erik Morales, Francisco Vargas and Luis Nery.
"Again with Mexican meat? Come on," Golovkin said to media members on Tuesday.
"I told you, it's not Mexican meat. This is Canelo. This is his team. This is his promotion. ... Canelo is cheating. They're using these drugs, and everybody is just trying to pretend it's not happening."
Golovkin did not end things there - he believes Canelo has been using performance enhancing drugs for some time. He also took aim at Canelo's promoter, Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions.
"It was pretty obvious when (Canelo's) muscles were all (enlarged) ... and with the traces of injections, which were visible," Golovkin said. "I can talk about Oscar De La Hoya, too. He is also not clean. He's dirty.
"You should take a look at the photos and ask a doctor. Ask any doctor. Let him explain what those (muscles) are. It's better even to use the lie detector. Then there wouldn't be any silly questions about meat or fruits or chocolate."
The rematch is still expected to go forward, even though the Nevada State Athletic Commission has not officially made a ruling on Canelo's tests.
If the second contest needed any further bad blood, it now has it.
CHEAT TO WIN!!!
He was never “almost knocked out”. That’s fucking ridiculous. That argument is always so lame. You either get knocked down/out or you don’t. And if you’re “almost knocked out” then it stands to reason that you’d have at least been knocked DOWN.
He got buzzed a couple times. GGG hits hard. It happens.
You don’t win a fight because you buzz a guy twice in the 10th and 11th rounds.
Imagine that shit happened in other sports? “Well, the shot went in, but he ALMOST blocked it so they shouldn’t count the shot”. Fuck outta here.
Canelo controlled most of the fight. GGG was prepared to have to chase Canelo. Instead HE was the one on the back foot for most rounds. He was lost in there for a while until Canelo gassed.
GGG landed a lot of jabs. And pretty much never went to the body. Once again, aggression ≠ effective aggression. Canelo landed a lot of power shots, and a lot of body shots. He controlled the pace of the fight. GGG fought his way back into it and it was a very close fight. But this robbery nonsense. Just stop.
I think people are just pissed because they wanted to believe that, “without Clen”, Canelo was just going to come out and get washed. Instead he was walking GGG down. No one likes to see a guy who was caught cheating, come out and prove them wrong.
