Cool, I'll take my .22 out and try to shoot it down.

You have no chance of hitting the space station, as it's 250 miles overhead, but you might kill someone when the bullet returns to the surface.

I live i a hilly area and I'd go out in the country. The tricky part is how much lead to put on the shot.

we used to go check it out every once in a while, when it was nice and bright, but haven't thought about it in months. Its one of those things that you look up at whatever time they say, and you're like, "Is that it? Is that it? Oh, how about that?" every time you see a moving light. Once you see really it, tho, its pretty bad-ass and you know it immediately. Steady pace from horizon to horizon, just a single point of light. Very cool stuff.

So I suppose you are looking for the higher numbers, such as "36 above W"?

Seems like it's going to be hard to see if it's like 10 degrees in a certain direction.

Ah, the international fake station. Another one of NASA's brainwashing hoaxes.

There is definitely some kind of aircraft up there that they use for that spot the station hoax, but it ain't astro-nots living in low Earth orbit.

I haven't access to a pc atm but I will post more about this when I get the chance.

None of this is real. Only your mind exists. Physical objects and other people look and behave as you would expect based on your imagination.

If you go outside and point a telescope at the ISS, you might be shocked to see in detail that it is exactly what everyone tells you it is. Don't be alarmed, none of that is real either.

    didn't mythbuster debunk this...especially with a 22.

Nothing you see on Mythbusters should be taken as gospel, they do like one or two trials and can't always tightly control conditions. That said, I did see that episode, and it was ruled "confirmed".

It's illegal in most states to fire straight up and people do die from falling bullets every year, usually around January 1st.

EDIT: My recollection of that episode was not quite right. It's apparently the only myth to ever be ruled plausible, confirmed and busted. I guess because if you fire it exactly perpendicular to the ground, the bullet will lose momentum and become harmless. Of course that's very difficult to do and doesn't really apply to real life.

The first time you go to see it, try to find the highest ground you can, away from bright lights, etc. (We used to go to a local park built on top of a former land fill, probably a few hundred ft up and no artificial light close by.) If you can do that, I'd look for the longest visible time as opposed to the angle of entry/height or whatever.

There was an old tracker, a different one than this I think, that used to also track when it was going to be brightest, which was a pretty helpful thing. Like, if it said +5 it was going to be a lot easier to see than a +1.5, or something like that. Can't find it at the moment. It tracked a bunch of different satellites and sky things, IIRC.

Yep, it happened here. Different season, however.

After ignoring all the e-mails, I finally decided to check it out tonight.

Time: Fri Apr 24 8:48 PM, Visible: 4 min, Max Height: 60 degrees, Appears: WNW, Disappears: SE
It arrived a few minutes late and not exactly in the direction I anticipated. It was smaller than I expected because I'm a dumbass. It looked like a star, but moving insanely fast.

Not really an impressive sight, but kinda neat.
