I was in Las Vegas the last week, I wanted to try playing on WSOP.com one night - but every time I tried to download the software from the site - it directed me to a facebook game ... not the actual WSOP real money gaming site. My first thought was - no wonder Caesars is bankrupt. My second thought is why couldn't I reach the site, I was under the impression if you were in NV you could play online. Anyone know why I couldn't even download the software while being present in Nevada?

Were you trying to download from a hotel? Which hotel?

Yes, I was at the Palms Place - on their connection and it didn't work. Then I tried from my own portable WiFi hotspot and it still didn't work. I tried clearing my cookies & such, thinking maybe I had visited WSOP from California before, but that didn't solve the issue either. My brother also tried from his android based tablet, and the links on http://www.wsop.com/online-poker/ & related pages would always forward to the facebook game.
I figured trying to call for help would leave me more frustrated so I just forgot about it. However, next time I return to Vegas or Reno, I'd like to give it a shot. Any help would be appreciated.

They used to let you download it no matter where you were.
This might be a bug, rather than location-related.
I just tried it (from CA) and got the same thing with the Facebook page.
when that happened to me I google mapped my location at the Paris on my phone and voila it let me in
