This is a vicious cycle where properties keep lowering base prices and raising resort fees in order to trick people on sites like Expedia into seeing them listed as "cheapest".
CET tried no resort fees, and got clobbered by comparable properties which had resort fees, because those properties were listed first.
I agree that mandatory resort fees should be made illegal, as they exist simply to trick the consumer. The base price should be the only mandatory price one has to pay, aside from government taxes.
Diamond and Seven Stars members don't have to pay this resort fee.
