Owner of Rams to build stadium in Inglewood (Los Angeles area)

    http://www.latimes.com/sports/nfl/la...105-story.html

Inglewood was the former crime-ridden home of the Lakers, before they moved downtown to Staples Center in 1999.

It was also once the home of the LA Kings.

So they move major LA sports out of that shithole, only to bring the NFL there.

    History really does repeat itself.

The question is whether or not LA gives a shit about football anymore after so many years.

If the Rams leave the lou are you a KC fan? Were you originally a KC fan? This almost happened with the Patriots a bunch of times and prob would have if the Krafts didn't buy the team

Also why can't NFL teams work in LA? Is it mainly a stadium issue?

The area isn't going to gentrify itself.

no, i'll follow the la team for awhile because we have some legit studs now: aaron donald, robert quinn, tavon austin, etc

hopefully by the time the careers of those guys are over we'll have an expansion team or the raiders or something

Honestly I would rather have no team than the Raiders.

    The City of Champions baby!

Druff, Inglewood is on the upswing. It's still a shithole, but if they really do develop the old Hollywood Park site and have a stadium and entertainment complex, the area might gentrify. It's still close enough to the west side and LAX for people to live there who aren't low rent. That casino does attract a certain element that may be hard to get rid of though.

I'd buy Rams season tickets though if they moved there.

Is this a serious question? Every city loves football.

    Yes it's a serious question.

Despite having two NFL teams at one point, LA has never been too excited about football, especially when compared to some NFL markets where it's basically a religion.

Given the loooong downtime with no team, the market may not be as excited about getting a team as you think.

The Rams and Raiders always played third fiddle to the Dodgers and Lakers.

I think you are underestimating where the NFL is right now compared to when LA had a team. The hype would overwhelm the entire region months before the season even starts.

    I guess we will see.

    I don't see it happening.

There might be some initial interest to where people want to go to a Rams game for the novelty of football being back in LA, but I don't see it lasting, and I think it will return to the previous tepid response (or worse).

There have been many "teases" regarding bringing the NFL back to LA since the '90s, and I can tell you that nobody was too excited, even before it became apparent that all of these teases never went anywhere. Even local sports talk hosts spent little time talking about it. The general feel around LA is that nobody gives a shit. Even LA-based NFL fans don't give that much of a shit, as they have already established their favorite team, and unless it's the Rams, seeing another team show up in the area won't do much for them.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I lived in LA for so many years that I pretty much got a feel for the pulse of the city, and I don't see the NFL becoming huge here.

There's also the factor that there were so many false "NFL is coming" reports over the last 15+ years that it became tiresome. It's like a hot chick you know who keeps making you believe she'll sleep with you, but never actually does. If she finally goes through with it years later, you've lost most of the excitement about it by that point.

It's more about population density in that area. 90% could give a fuck and they could still have more than enough people to pack out a 100,000 seat stadium every game. Dig?

For that matter, it's like going to a hockey game in Florida, everyone is a transplant (like LA), so that when you go see The Lightning, there are more away jerseys in the crowd than anyone giving a fuck about the home team.

Inglewood is booming right now. If you got a spare million or two, might be a good idea to buy some dumps near the proposed stadium location.
