I have saw $3000-$4000 pots quite often in a local $1/$3 game. The game plays a lot like a rebuy tourney in the beginning. There are a couple of guys that will pretty much get it in with anything so that someone at the table has a stack bigger than $400 so you can buy more than $200 in chips. Once I finally understood that, the game became infinitely easier to beat.

The low buy in gets people into the game in the beginning that would not play if there were players buying in for $500 or $1000. You would be surprised how many players will come in thinking that they can buy into the game for $100 and beat the game. The game starts at 8 and there is a full table with 5 or 6 waiting by 8:30, but there are 3 or for guys that will drop between $100 and $200 then leave. By then end of the night it is usually playing like a $2/$5 game at a casino i.e. $20 or more to see a flop but not a lot of crazy preflop shoves like there is early in the night.why don't they just raise the buy-in amount?
