Anyone know anything about this?
Anyone know anything about this?
Heard from a player there that they were fired and it had something to do with a portion of the rake missing. I don’t know anything beyond that. I’m not saying this is true just trying to find out if the information that was given to me is accurate.
Also was told proceeds were taken from the dealers? I can only assume this would be from the daily tournaments where add ons and rebuys are involved. Again I’m just speculating to what I was told.
Only Jedis have the power to do this.
From what I hear John Colville, Tom, and a dealer named Adrian were all involved and all gone. It had something to do with creating dummy tournament sheets and was a “on going” scheme.
I must be an idiot, but who are John and Tom specifically? What are their positions at the Nugget?
John Colville is listed as VP of Special Events, poker, and keno. Tom, (don’t know his last name), was the poker room manager and acted as the tournament director at every tournament I ever played at the GN, including the daily’s and the Grand Poker Series held in June. Tom always rubbed me the wrong way. I never trusted the way they ran the tournaments although I did play in some of the dailies including a early morning one on Sundays that had a 5k guarantee. Only until the last year, or so, did they have a tournament clock. Up until then time was kept by one dealer with a watch. Their rake was terrible, (25% or so). I always suspected that some of the add ons, (which were bought at the table), and rebuys weren’t always added to the prize pool but it was impossible to confirm. For all these reasons I stopped playing there.
Now with this news of of them all being let go, dummy tournament sheets, I believe I could have been right all along. Someone on 2+2, that I believe is Rob Solomon from AnteUp, is asking for information about John’s departure in September. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/19...as-nv-1472510/ Since nothing has come public I assume the GN is sweeping this under the rug. But the fact is, if this was happening, players and dealers alike were losing funds for awhile.
John Colville
How long have they worked there?
Probably trying to steal same amount of cash as they could easily get away with from 2003-2009.
I don’t know the whole story here. Just hearsay from a couple players that I assume know some measure of truth and concurrence of three prominent employees being let go.
The real question this brings up is what checks and balances are there for this type of thing not happening at a poker room near you? Do we all rely on the personal integrity of each tournament director to do the right thing? Why doesn’t this happen more often?
I always thought that guy Tom was shady as well, I am pretty sure the he once got me for an hundo by saying that I only gave him 450 instead of the 550 that I thought I gave him to buy into a Grand tourney. I was distracted a bit when paying so I am only about 90% sure, but whatever. Thieves gonna thieve.
