I never have and never will refer to S. Car. as USC. But amusing nonetheless.

I knew a guy in the '90s (over the internet) who told me he was a big "USC" fan. Then he told me of some exciting win the team had, and I looked up the score and the Trojans lost, so I couldn't figure out why he was so excited.

When I asked him, he told me that "USC" was referring to the Gamecocks, and that everyone in South Carolina sees that as "USC", to where he didn't even think of how I could have misinterpreted it as the Los Angeles school.

I have learned my lesson, but it took A LOT of pain. A lot of bad beats for way too much money betting Hawaii games trying to get right.

--Off the top of my head, I remember once years and years ago I was stuck a ton, bet a ton on Utah St. -4 at Hawaii. Then I had to spend $60 to purchase some CFB package just to watch the game. And Utah St. was up 21 at half and not only blew the cover but lost the game too. And I stayed up to 1 am to watch every brutal play. So so brutal.

Well, this one is a toss-up.

-11 on UNLV, and it's a 6-point lead at the half. I guess UNLV has the momentum, as Hawaii was shut down after that early TD.

This one makes or breaks the day for me as a winner or loser, as CO State did cover fairly easily. I was hoping to have a big winner today, and I actually could've gone 5-0, but two 0.5 point losses made it to where at best I can go 3-2.

My last 3 days prior to this (over all sports combined) were 0-5, 2-2, and 1-3, and none of these were moneyline dog wins except a +121. So it's been a little bit rough.

Maybe the NFL will rescue my week. I'll post those shortly.

I got off ever touching Hawaii almost two decades ago. I don’t know if it’s still the case, but when Timmy Chang was the QB instead of coach, and June Jones was the coach, they had the same refs every weekend who were locals or basically the same handful of guys rotating, as it must have been seen as too expensive and wasteful to fly mainland guys in unless someone with tenure wanted a vacation.

I’ve never felt like anything was as corrupt as those games were. They would have made Donaghy blush.

I’d see calls every game that I still recall from the late 90s to mid 2000s. . Just blatant rigging that went undetected being played at some hour no one besides the biggest degenerates watched. I really think the combination of being the last game played for stuck bettors and that they could operate without much scrutiny made it the most corrupt era I’ve ever watched in sports. I always bring it up when people talk about sports being rigged.

I mean the refs would be sitting there bullshitting and smiling with June Jones all night talking about golfing or their wives. Yet you couldn’t just bet Hawaii, as they were often favored in that era, and it’s like the refs made sure they’d win and then do Vegas’s bidding right at the end. Just seeing Hawaii football makes my blood boil. It’s the most untouchable thing in sports. Getting shanked by Hawaii is like a college football betting rite of passage.
