Shaughnnessy, like all beat reporters during that era, travelled on the team plane, lived in the same hotels and drank in the same bars with the team he was assigned to. He knew everything. I feel like this is a Dejavu betting spot I’ve seen a hundred times.
Michigan is in the rare spot where their fans and team have to cheer for Ohio State because MSU winning would create three way tie where they end up on the outside looking in most likely.
So Ohio State comes out and beats MSU fairly easily as they have a shit pass defense. I wouldn’t touch game, as maybe it’s 38-24, and maybe it’s 41-17, but Ohio State will win and it won’t be much of a sweat.
So Michigan is playing this shit Maryland team at 330 knowing they have a game for all the marbles next week, yet find themselves in a second half sweat. I’d bet the game is in doubt with 12 minutes in the 4th. I’ve seen this scenario a lot of times where one team has a seemingly tough opponent while the other is worrying about other results and the big game next week and they end up as the ones in a dogfight.
I’ll wait until it appears Ohio State is certainly going to win and then fire on that shit Maryland team +16 or 16.5.
