Heíd grab me and weíd play with the lady pros for a few years back late 90s. Was really neat experience. They were so damn good from 175 to the cup.

Played with Michelle McGann one year. Pro I didnít know another year.

That was Se Ri Pakís rookie year. Was on a heater coming in and she won. That was pre-Yao Ming, and my first exposure to the crazy Asian national pride thing when they hit it big on a global stage.

There was Iíd estimate upwards of 3k South Koreans there following her like deadheads stop to stop. They were there even earlier in the week. Funniest part is they all had these big signs with her picture on one side, and Chan Ho Park on the other side. It felt like you were attending an event in Seoul.

Was Pak the first or were there other South Koreans before her? I was just curious who started the craze and made every South Korean girl dream of being the next big golf star?

By the time I started paying attention again it felt like the LPGA was less popular and it was all Asians up top and Americans had tuned out. Before that it was Lopez, Inkster, Daniels, and then Annika.
BCR, nice to see you in there thread and to be totally transparent, you know more about the history of womanís golf than I do. I have bet the last 4 tournaments. For me the PGA tour has never been as deep as it is now. Dustin Johnson played above the rim for a while, but because of the Tiger revolution there are so many guys that can win every week.

The LPGA is more front loaded with talent. At the moment Iím sort of hoping J Ko can almost be like the Serena Williams for Womanís Golf, although that isnít possible in a sport with as many variables as Golf, you know what I mean. I am hoping if thatís the case, to squeeze every penny out of her before the odds get absurd. I still have a lot of work to be done to see if the LPGA is something I can profit at long term. My sample size is way too small.

Pak was for sure the pioneer. I know that the course set-ups on the Korean tour are typically more difficult than the set-ups on the LPGA. This quick article really breaks things down better than I ever could.

    https://www.womensgolf.com/south-korea

The ďrookiesĒ who come from South Korea are not real rookies. They have the good fortune of having already played professionally and in tougher scoring conditions. Their success has now fully become part of the culture and the top performers are very likely coming to the LPGA in short measure.

I can speculate why the Tiger Revolution didnít translate nearly as much to Womenís Golf as for American Players. Golf is so time consuming and expensive that you really need to be all in on it. Maybe itís something about society here today that just doesnít attract the same amount of females to Golf. The Korean dominance may also be a deterrence.

I have watched a lot of LPGA in the last few months and I will tell you that they really do try to promote the Americans. Nelly and Jessica Korda for sure make sense, they are good (especially Nelly) and attractive. Even on the tour championship when I had J Ko, who ended up winning by 5 strokes, she didnít get much coverage until she basically had a share of the lead.

Thanks for the story. Itís always good to know more and more. I would say the betting/dfs aspect of Womanís golf is a huge factor in their success and I expect to see more and more wagering on it in the future.

You know what's funny, I started watching the LPGA about 5 years ago when I was taking care of my elderly mom before she passed and became a big fan. They are great golfers and not bad to look at it either. I've been staying out of Casinos since Covid started and my gambling options are very limited here in California. So last year before the ANA Inspiration in Sept I checked on DraftKings to see if they had LPGA DFS to get my gambling fix and because I think I'd be pretty good at it at this point. I couldn't find any LPGA. I even sent Customer Service a comment/complaint about not having LPGA DFS. Never heard back from them.

Well, I just read your message above and you mentioned dfs. So I checked DraftKings and they now have LPGA (maybe I missed it before?).

    So Thank you!

    A few comments:

    1) I'm done with the Kings. They're awful.

    2) This would have been a good day for some dogs. Looks like Memphis (who I considered, by the way) is going to beat the Cilppers, and sadly Washington is looking good against Denver.

    3) Sac might be an autobet over for now. Look at the points they've allowed in their last several contests. Defense has become absolute shit.

Wizards are much better than their record. Won 6 of 7 and beat some very good teams. Only loss was to Clippers on a back to back after going to overtime with the Lakers. They also had the whole Covid thing at the beginning of the year and Westbrook on a minutes restriction.

Yeah they've looked way better lately, as have the Knicks.

Then there are the teams on a downswing lately -- the Lakers, the Kings, the Celtics...

Edmonton & NBA ironically saved us.

Bruins blew my mind but that’s sports.

Av’s in regulation. Tempted by over but I’m sticking with the quality grind.

Jets +114 tomorrow over the hapless Habs.
I sprinkled a little now and will do more if the French express a willingness to die for their cause. I don’t think people get it yet. They will eventually but it will cost them.

On Brooks for a nickel at +650. Better late than never Watched every shot yesterday on PGA Tour Live. Appears the old Brooks is back.

I like the Jets tomorrow but more-so if it's Price.

What do you think about the Raptors tonight? The whole coaching staff is out due to covid precautions. Possibly some last minute players being pulled too? Or Rockets just too awful.

I don't mind Rockets perhaps first half with the spread or for game.

I bet in the morning .My concern then was who is going to play. Less concerned now.

    Raptors -4Ĺ -115 for 1st Half W
I’ll bet there will be a better price at game time. Oh, well

    Also

    Utah Jazz -1Ĺ -115 for 1st Quarter W

    Clippers -2 -110 for 1st Quarter Push
    Clippers -3Ĺ -115 for 1st Half W

Sadly I’m the hottest NBA here. Oooh shots

Luke Walton death prop is gone... wish I hit it harder.

Lakers 1Q is very very tempting ..... you first

Sorry, San. Gotta go against your Jazz pick. Well, actually we can both win, if it falls right.

    You know what's coming:

    *** MONEYLINE ALERT ***

    Miami +215 vs. Utah

I need to pray that Adebayo, currently with some knee pain, will feel better today and play. He's listed as "questionable", but I'm leaning on the side of him playing. Tragic Dragic should be off the minutes restriction.

At least equity wise this was the proper decision. Going to need Brooks to save my weekend. I'll be routing for Nelly Joe D. Lydia Ko was my second choice but I ended up just betting J. Problem when most of the Koreans are two putting every hole, you can't count on the par 5s to get a two putt or up and down for birdie. They play most as three shot holes, even with a good drive. Good luck to you.
