I battled the bottle for a decade. And gambling. I basically swore off gambling five years ago and moderate my drink now. Still get faced time and again, but not nearly to the level I used to.

Basically I have accomplished what Jewdonk has failed time and again to regulate. Which is precisely why he is in the armpit of Mexico.

I had the gambling bug since I have been 21. The good thing is that the only time I give a shit about gambling is when I am in Vegas. I am now on the East Coast which makes it a much longer flight and I have no interest in these Indian casinos out here. So that has kind of solved itself for now.

I havent stopped drinking or really even moderated it, as I get too much enjoyment from it. For the most part, I find life boring with short-lived moments of excitement and joy. The booze helps me focus and not worry so much about how all our lives are pretty much meaningless in the scheme of things. Some people might call this depression and maybe it is. But I rather be a depressed drinker than change my brain chemistry with some SSRI which forces my brain to paint a pretty picture when that isnt what I really see. I think too many people get labeled as "depressed" when they dont feel like their is real purpose. I think they are just telling the truth.

There's nothing wrong with drinking to relieve boredom or depression but I hope you realize there is so much out there that trumps alcohol or any other common "high".

Also you realize that alcohol is no different than any "anti-depressant", except with regular alcohol use real depression will often develop, not to mention other health problems, while the opposite is more likely to occur with SSRI's or whatever.

Alcohol changes your brain chemistry and a lot more, all for the worse.

I'll drink to that too. This is the Gweilo a Hong Kong craft. It is kind of like and nice hops. It is as close as I have found to racer 5 in Asia. Make no mistake this ain't no real racer 5 but we have to make do.

In 2007, a very dedicated forum troll showed up on a site I frequented and obsessively harassed me there. Tried several attempts to make truces with him, but none of them lasted, as he would inevitably break it after a night of Beam and Red Bull pot. The situation persisted for 7 years.

Finally in 2014 I made what was supposed to be a final truce and unbanned his account on my forum. Things were peaceful for awhile, but then he started trolling my posts again with increasing frequency.

Had urges to ban him and be done with it, but learned from seven years of adversity that I was better off just leaving him be and not escalating the situation.

Still, I'm only human and sometimes lapse, and end up responding to some of his trolling.

A story of human triumph and tragedy.
