Great article about sports betting touts!

Awesome read and hope maybe Druff can get one of these guys on radio to discuss the business.

At Pregame, 23 of 33 handicappers (69 percent) recently lost money for clients in a documented period of time that consisted of 25,956 picks. A $100 bettor would have lost $127,708 by tailing every pick made by the "professionals"—and that doesn't even factor in the cost of the various packages, which can carry monthly fees as high as $349.

    Not surprising at all.

I always wondered if a lot of the touts just operate under a bunch of different names and throw up a lot of opposing picks to each other (while pretending to be totally separate). This way it is highly likely that at least one of them will have a great year, since the "good" handicapper will be on the opposite side of the "bad" handicapper. Then, after some time passes, the "bad" handicappers close up shop, and everyone who was a customer of the "good" handicappers are convinced that they have struck gold, and pay a lot of money for subsequent picks.

It seems like this would be incredibly easy to do on the internet.

Do you know if this happens frequently?

Sounds like the people who give away stock tips for free. Get yourself 1000 people, and pick 3-4 stocks. Give every 250 people a different pick. One or two will come true most likely, lets say 2. Now you have 500-ish people you give another pick to. Say you give 4 picks, one each to 125 people. If only 1 pick comes in, you have 125 people who you just gave 2 free spot-on stock picks to. It can't be all that hard to swing a bunch of new customers from that 125 people, if you have any selling skills at all...
