its pretty much exactly what a bullet does when it hits safety glass in a rear window. the shock waves from glass being displaced in a radial extending perpendicular from the entry point causes that kind of damage. front windshields are designed differently, with inbound gravel and shit in mind.

Did the bullet disintegrate upon impact? Magically exit without leaving a trace? Simply stop in midair after penetrating the glass, neatly drop on the floor of the truck where it can't be found?

its absolutely possible that a 22 caliber slug could flatten against the window and shatter it without passing through. bullets do weird shit. it could have bounced back or disintegrated into fragments, either scenario could break safety glass like that.
