    Computer nerds - need help

I need to purchase a bunch of computers asap. I have never dealt with the ideal specs needed to stream video so thought what better place to ask.

    Objective :

Camera connected to desktop streams the video the camera is taking in. This video then transmits to a platform that is then viewed by another viewer. From what i understand, the higher the bitrate the lower the video delay will be. However, with a higher bitrate, the processor and memory I think are taxed more.

What is an ideal rig to broadcast streaming video? Right now I am starting with an i5 or higher , 8 to 16 gigs of ram, fiber optics. Would a specific graphics card help since most base computers have integrated graphics cards that typically suck.

The goal is to get the least amount of delay possible.

I was actually thinking about starting with this as the base:

    Dell Inspiron i3847-4616BK Tower Desktop Intel Gen 4 i5-4440/ 8GB/ 1TB/ Windows 8

I just dont know what is more important for streaming video, Ram, CPU , Video card or all of them. For all i know they could make videos cards specifically for streaming.

Unfortunately I have no personal experience that could help pick out optimal gear for HD broadcasting... I'd hollar at a Dell sales rep and endeavor to vet what they suggest with a third party. I would, however, avoid any current gen video gear because previous generation should be more than suitable and run at around 30% the cost of the latest greatest.

I'm running so well my limits are cut. Regardless if this wins I'll donate $50 to a freeroll in your honor...looks like a very good spot.

    WRONNNNNNG

GPU (Video Card) is used to create and display video. It is not used to capture and encode video.

You just need a good processor and a decent amount of RAM.

I think the i5 8GB/16GB would be more than enough.

The only other consideration is if this going to be going for long periods of time you might want a second fan or better cooling source.

Also ship the live girls streaming videos straight to PFA...thanks!

This is exactly what I was looking for... I wasnt sure if streaming was more taxing on the CPU , Ram or Video card. It makes sense it would be CPU heavy. tytyty

So I am guessing any 500 usd machine with an i5 and 8-16 gigs would handle it just fine.

Correct except if you are going to run them 8+ hours a day you will burn up those consumer grade processors and ram in no time.
