    Harrah's and Pennsylvania police lulz

I pieced together from different tweets from Bryan Devonshire(devopoker), Kurt Jewell(tkirk1212), and Kyle Cartwright(da_kyky) so I may miss a point or two. The jist of the story is that a guy steals $2k from Jewell at the table so he reports it to security. They then review the surveillance tapes and confirm it then approach the guy about it. He offers to give the money back and Harrah's security says ok and are about to let him go until Jewell and Cartwright raise hell wanting the police called. The Pennsylvania State Police then show up and say that since the guy gave the money back that they will do nothing. The guys then protest even more wanting the guy arrested and are kicked out of the casino by security.

This slays me that the police would let a guy off of a felony because he gave it back. Double lulz for the fact that Harrah's ejected the past two winners if the WSOP Curcuit main event in St. Louis. This is a fucking eyesore for Harrah's and the cops involved that they did this shit.

Harrahs/Caesars is such a fucking joke. Most if not all of their properties in Las Vegas are in dire need of improvements. This is what I would do if I was Gary Loveman.

    #1 Put down the hamburger
#2 Implode Ballys, Harrahs, Bills and the Flamingo and build new properties from scratch since they are at least 10-20 years behind the competition
#3 Move the WSOP to Caesars. It would eliminate the logistical nightmares of having it at the Rio by giving the players more options for food while on break. And wouldn't it make more sense to have your flagship event at your flagship casino? Please correct me if I am wrong as of now does Caesars have the convention space to hold the WSOP?

The only positive thing that I can say about Caesars/Harrahs is that they do not charge a resort fee to their guests. However they do charge an arm and a leg for internet access.

I have to imagine this could be pursued if the victims really wanted to. As long as they have the guy's name/info and the events that took place are on video aren't in question there is no fucking way the cops can say "well he gave the money back so it is OK"

Cops don't have the authority to just turn a blind eye to a felony because they are too fucking lazy to do the paperwork.

Yea, that's where they're losing me too. It would be different if they needed to investigate, but apparently there is clear video evidence that shows the guy taking the money. I'm going to start stealing at the Harrah's properties if all you have to do is offer to give back what you took and they'll let you go.

It's simply because it's a casino. If it was anywhere else, the guy would be in jail. Casinos are great at lining the political pockets of all the local shot callers, regardless of locale. The casino doesn't want some anti-gambling politician running against the incumbent to be able to point to crime statistics regrading the casino and be able to say "look at the element Pol X brought into our community!", and the cops always know where their bread is buttered.

Casinos get away with shit that no other business entity would ever even try, because they have that much sway. It's the reason a Peter DC never gets a beat down in a casino. If you see him in a 7/11, you take your shot and roll the dice that they won't catch you. In a casino, the beatdown you're going to get from first the security, and then the paid off local cops makes it impossible to do anything.

Caesar's/Harrah's is also notorious for terrible operations decisions and shitting the bed constantly with everything they do. Only their excellent marketing and frequently-astute business decisions (such as buying the WSOP for almost nothing) keeps them afloat.

I have mixed feelings about them running the WSOP. I am happy that their marketing is so good that it attracts so many donks from all over the world, but I am so sick of their operational failures. Operations have improved since the worst point in 2007 (the tent year), but it still has a long way to go.

Also someone should ask Bryan Devonshire why he became a UB pro after the superuser scandal.

This disappointed me because, in my interactions with him, he came off as a nice and happy-go-lucky guy, and it was sad to see him wearing UB. Keep in mind that he was close friends with CRAZYMARCO, the guy who got directly ripped off in the infamous POTRIPPER ten-high hand on AP.
