My family was too poor at the time. I played my neighbor's whenever they'd let me. My first system was a Genesis. I wish it has been a SNES, but them's the breaks.

My friend's girl just got him one for Father's day. I have been playing it every time I am over there.

Barry is that an original NES, or did you buy it later?

I ask this because I found that my Nintendo in the '80s degraded from use, and eventually was unable to read the cartridges. I can't imagine one lasting for 25+ years with any kind of semi-regular use.

90% of the time its the strip that you need to clean. There is a kit on Ebay that costs like 25 bucks and you clean the head and it works. I have my original one and I was playing Dragon Warrior, Wrestlemania and SMB 3

Damnit. I wish you told me this before I trashed it in the early 90s.

I remember my dad buying this when I was super young. The first night he had to test it out and wouldnt let us kids touch it. The following weeks consisted of marathon Mario and Duck Hunt sessions.

5-6 years later I was about 10. I was a mouthy punk ass kid as you can imagine. One day after grounding me and other various threats, my mom literally smashed the Nintendo with an iron. I was heartbroken.

It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?

Even better, for 10 bucks and a little work, you can replace that whole part and have pretty much a new NES.

An NES in good condition is only about 50 bucks. For some reason people think that they're rare and valuable, but Nintendo made a ton of them. "New" ones are getting cleaned out of attics every day.

Got my NES in 1985 when they first came out. I was only 5 though so I didn't really hit my video game stride till SNES when I was a little older, so most of my nostalgia gaming memories are SNES ones.

Favorite games included super Mario world, F Zero, street fighter, and Final Fantasy II

I love those games too (and the console in general), but if you go back and play it now, I think the 64 has not aged well at all.
