The Major sports leagues want Fantasy Sports because they know it causes so much more interest in their sport which in turn OBV makes them a ton more money. Which is, of course, why they got it carved out in the UIGEA. They also like to posture like they dont like sportsbetting which we all know is BS for the same reason.
I do, however, agree that the DOJ or lawmakers will somehow do something to fuck this all up since its getting too big and it does present itself as gambling in most peoples minds. My prediction would be that they make a law making it illegal to make a "juice" off of the leagues, which would swiftly put an end to these sites, but would still allow everyone to run their own money leagues where no juice is taken.
They are currently 100% legal in most states under the games of skill and exempt from UIEGA. Their are a few states that have laws within their jurisdictions though.
