    US Open (Tennis) 2014 Thread

Wish the wormhole would have said Djokovic to lose, and Rfed will win the Open!

Although right now rFed is down 1-0 in the semis.

This was Federer's last hope of winning another major. After today's performance, he's officially done. It's over, Johnny.

imo the best tennis player to have ever lived, and that includes Rod Laver

his backhand is pure poetry in motion

reminds me of Freddy Couples swinging a golf club

Pretty unreal this is the first time that the Big 3 (Nadal, Fed and Joker) won't be involved a Men's Grand Slam Final since 2005.

He would have made an amazing defensive shortstop with amazing range.

Would have been an amazing hitter - 98mph fast ball would look slow to him.

Used to coach little league and noticed the kids who played tennis crushed when it came to hitting. Pace of ball, head down (on racquet & bat - it's same thing). My buddy and I used to draft every kid from local tennis club.

Tennis kids got 100x more "touches" - vs typical kid who never plays sandlot ball with friends.

Federer is a wiry little guy facing the new crop of 6'3" 210lbs kids who are lifting so they can serve 130mph or more.

    Otherworldly hand eye.

No more Federer, Nadal, Murray or Djokovic in U.S. Open Final.
Not sure if I really give a shit about these new kids in tennis.
Who do you root for now? The Asian kid?

borg, conners, mcenroe, lendl, sampras....i think it heads to federer and maybe a a couple lesser behind him.

there have always been heavy hitters that could smash the serve,..but their other parts of the game kept them back...i see no robo 6"4 tennis player being dominant unless he has the skills across the board.

federer had a very lengthy run at being the best.....and he's not exactly little mr. sandelbar

Federer is the GOAT, but he's starting to look like Ali post Rumble in the Jungle.

"The Federer–Nadal rivalry is between two professional tennis players, Roger Federer of Switzerland and Rafael Nadal of Spain. They are currently engaged in a storied rivalry, which many consider to be one of the greatest in tennis history.[1][2][3][4][5] They have played 33 times, most recently in the 2014 Australian Open Semi-finals, and Nadal leads their ten-year-old rivalry 23–10"

    Hmmm the best ever?

    US Open (Tennis) 2014 Thread

Federer is one of my favorites, if not my favorite, a true artist, beautiful to watch, poetry in motion, pure elegance, I could go on. One can make the argument that he is the best ever. But the fact that nadal has such an overwhelming record against him nags at me.

Is federer the best ever, except when he played nadal?

I like nadal, not my favorite player as he is just another generic baseliner, albeit a very good one
