From Nolan Dalla's blog: http://www.nolandalla.com/pokerstars...rleans-saints/

Basically, Nolan, who worked for Pokerstars at the time, came up with the idea for Stars to make a $600 million PUBLIC cash offer to buy the then-struggling Saints. Pokerstars would also have promised to keep them in New Orleans.

It was purely a PR move.

It was assumed that the NFL would reject the offer even if the owner of the Saints did agree to sell. However, Stars would have gone through with the purchase if it was allowed.

Pokerstars CEO Isai Scheinberg considered Nolan's idea and got close to approving it, but ultimately decided against it. That's why you never heard about it until now.
