I heard about this while watching Prime Time Sports on Sportsnet here in Canada today & decided to look it up & read the story on SI. Pretty interesting read.

cliffs: Jeff Locke, a rookie pitcher with the Pirates, is implicated by a childhood friend to be fixing games with him. He predicts 5 straight decisions late in the 2012 season to appear to give his story credibility but turns out he lied about it because the pitcher rebuffed him & his brother on facebook.

Very interesting story.

One of those things where everything points to something sinister, and it's actually mostly innocent and just a result of coincidence or a prank that worked out better than someone thought it would.

Jeff Locke is on my fantasy team, btw. Strange pitcher. He seems to be either really good or awful, without much in between.
