Griner, the first openly gay athlete to score a Nike contract, also just became the first professional athlete to get engaged to a player on a rival team though Johnson boasts that title as well. Griner plays for the Phoenix Mercury, and Johnson for the Tulsa Shock. Congrats to the both of them!

At some point, you have to think something like this will happen in the NFL or NBA. Like a starting QB for the Bears marrying a linebacker for the Packers. Imagine a guy sacking his own husband in the playoffs!

Somehow, I imagine broadcasters and pundits will be less thrilled about that storyline than, say, the Harbaughbowl.
