A South Dakota woman has been charged after she allegedly performed a sex act with a man in front of a crowd at a campground in Somerset, Wis., and then spit on and kicked a sheriff's deputy who arrested her.
A St. Croix County sheriff's deputy responded about 4:15 p.m. Saturday to a report of a disturbance at Apple River Hideaway, a campground along the Apple River in Somerset. The campground owner told the deputy that he had received several complaints from campers saying two people were performing a sex act while a large crowd watched, according to the deputy's report included in the criminal complaint.
Several campers told Deputy Richard Koenig they were offended by the behavior, his report states.
Jody A. Degen, 30, of Alexandria, S.D., was screaming at staff with her breasts exposed when the deputy arrived, according to the report, which described her as appearing "very intoxicated." After Degen was placed in a sheriff's car, "she shouted several times that all she had done was 'make out with him and DNA swabs would prove it,' and pounded on the inside of the car windows," the report states.
An onlooker reportedly took photos and video of the incident and one viewed by Koenig allegedly showed Degen performing a sex act with
Dustin R. Wolf, 30, of Alexandria, S.D.
Both were arrested. Wolf had not been charged in the incident as of Tuesday afternoon.
Degen was charged Monday in St. Croix County Circuit Court with throwing/discharging bodily fluid at a public safety worker and battery to law enforcement officers, firefighters or commission wardens -- both felonies -- and misdemeanor charges of sexual gratification; resisting or obstructing an officer; disorderly conduct; and lewd, lascivious behavior-exposure.
When reached by phone Tuesday, Degen declined to comment. Wolf could not be reached.
A preliminary hearing in Degen's case is scheduled for Thursday.
