Looks like you're right. Apparently she's 44 years old with arrests over the years for drug possession, driving with an expired license, larceny(theft), disorderly conduct, forgery/counterfeiting, possession with intent to distribute, and driving with a suspended license. She has a few old judgments against her for small amounts, max was $6500 and the creditor was St. Josephs Health Services (a healthcare provider in Rhode Island).

I think it's about 50% Amanda's fault for letting it drag on so long. Should've set a 1 month limit and been paid monthly or booted her out. Then again, it's only $5k so who really cares. You are only a landlord if you collect rent. If you don't collect rent, you're just giving someone a free place to live.
Woah, I always thought she was way younger than 44. She certainly acts way younger/more immature, and the pictures I've seen make her look a lot younger. Has she responded to any of this publicly? She's certainly tweeting like nothing is happening.

Anyway, while Amanda let this drag a bit long, I don't really blame her for how she handled the situation. When someone owes you money like this, it's often hard to pull the trigger and call them out, as you end up fearing that they will simply run off (especially if they owe many others, which will then also come out) and you will never get paid.
However, it's actually better to call them out, both to prevent others from becoming victims AND to shame them into paying up. The general rule of thumb is "scammers love secrets", meaning that they operate with the intention of everyone keeping silent and their rep intact. The best way to get a scammer/bad debtor to pay you is to THREATEN to call them out, giving them a chance to save their rep but also making them aware that they can't keep jerking you around. The worst thing you can do is "give them time" because you will rarely get paid.
The second-best thing you can do (for yourself, that is) is to call them out. At least they will typically be shamed into paying you (if they can scratch up the money), and even if you don't get paid, you will make it much tougher for them to rip off others.
Getting back to the Amanda/Kim situation, a lawsuit will be useless. You will never be able to collect from her, unless she has a steady paycheck that you can garnish. And that's if she's in the same state as you. Suing someone out of state is very difficult and even harder to collect once you win. Even though Kim Shannon might work for Party Poker at the moment, they probably just issue her random checks every so often, and would be difficult (or impossible) to get them to cooperate with any garnishment. In fact, they would probably sooner terminate her than deal with paying out garnishments. Garnishments are really more suitable for either bank accounts or regular 9-5 jobs, where the person is paid regularly and is an otherwise stable employee. For example, if a guy who works for the phone company stiffs you and you get a judgment against them, that's a perfect spot to garnish his wages. Working as a media person for Party Poker is not.
Good luck to you, Amanda, but I doubt you will ever see your $5500. I am guessing Kim will now go into hiding and just sponge off her boyfriend for the foreseeable future. I do believe every bit of your story, by the way.

Pregnancy was amazing--cause she was babbling about drinking and partying and such right up until the thing popped out. All signs point towards it being hers tho...why else would Travis get with that creature? Well, he's a sick degen too, so it might be that.
She caught a piece of a bad beat jackpot a few years back. That's what kept her floating around the poker scene for awhile.

This Mander person clearly got played by a veteran in the game of life. I think it's funny that she mentions playing 15k wpt's in the same blog post about getting scammed for 5k. The funny thing, is that you can't even class Kim as a scammer or a thief in this instance. From what I gather the bulk of the debt stems from rent owed on half the house that had already been paid for, when she was given a room in a 3 bed house? I'm not surprised she walked on the debt when she was being exploited like that.
Easy game, stick to the young hot shot pro while the times are good - fill her full of praise, compare her to Selbst and Liu in poker media interview video's, and tell her she's the best thing since sliced bread so as to stay on her nice side - then happily bail when Mander's money starts to dry up and begins to hassle her about rent, then chucks her out at xmas. It's like a horse who's deep in make-up who gets dropped. If the backer wants to see that make-up they have to keep reloading or cut their losses.
These poker players who come into big money when they're young can be so naive and completely lose the perception of what the value of money means to the everyday working person. $5.5k is a ridicilous amount of money that would take years to be paid off for a person on minimum to average wage.

Amanda has 2 options here...
1) Sell the debt for a faction of the value
2) Put Kim on a very long payment plan
It is pretty obvious that Kim Shannon is broke and has little or no money.
Even if Kim acknowledges the debt, it would be a big hassle to try and get money out of her.
